HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in men’s track and field for the week of April 4th to April 11th.
Men’s Track Student-Athlete of the Week
George Karamitsos | Lewis & Clark | FR | Distance | Arlington, VA | Yorktown
Karamitsos placed second out of 56 runners, and first amongst Division III athletes, in the 1500M at the L&C Invite. The Pioneers freshman posted a personal-best time of 3:54.37 to finish second behind University of Portland's Jona Bodirsky. His time pushed him into the top-50 in the event nationally (48th overall) and placed him fourth in program history and second since 1970.
Men’s Field Student-Athlete of the Week
Masum Real | Pacific Lutheran | Throws | Tacoma, WA | Franklin Pierce
Real won two events on Saturday at the L&C Invitational. The sophomore won the shot put in a personal best throw of 49 feet, 0 3/4 inches before winning the discus with a toss of 150' 9". Real heads into the NWC Championships with the top mark in both the shot put and discus.
