Puget Sound hosts 2026 Golf NWC Spring Classic

Lakewood, Wash.– The Northwest Conference men’s and women’s golf teams will compete head-to-head on April 4-5th at the NWC Spring Classic, hosted by Puget Sound, at the Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Washington. Tee times on Saturday will be at 10:30 AM PST and 8:30 AM PST on Sunday.

Men

In the previous Northwest Conference matchup, the Willamette men’s golf squad claimed the 2025 Fall Classic title, edging out the Whitman Blues men with a final score at 9-over-par with a combined score of 285+292=577. Willamette was led by Brock Olson’s individual performance, finishing one-under-par with an overall score of 68+73 (141).

The Whitman Blues men finished with an overall score of 290+296 (586), placing second after a battle for the championship title in the final day of competition. The Blues were led by junior Mason Remington, who claimed the individual medalist honor with a score of 71+69 (140). Linfield men finished in third place, at 289+304 (593). Pacific Lutheran placed fourth with a score of 291+303 (594), followed by Whitworth at fifth with a final score of 295+301 (596). 

Other individual golfers to watch include two first years– Michael Baldwin of Willamette and Owen Irving of Linfield– who finished third and fourth respectively at the Fall Classic. Also a top contender, Matthew Durkin of Whitworth recently won individual honors at the GFU invitational, hitting a combined score of 66 + 75 (141). 

Women

At the 2024 Northwest Conference Fall Classic, the George Fox women’s golf team claimed victory, topping the conference with a final score of 319+341 (660). In a round two fight for runner-up, Pacific (Ore.) pulled ahead claiming silver, with a final team score of 328+336 (664). Whitman moved up from their fourth place position, and broke into the top three with a team score of 334+332 (666).

Whitworth battled in the last round to place fourth with a score of 341+327 (668), followed by Lewis & Clark at fifth with a final score of 328+344 (672). Rounding out the final scores were Puget Sound (711) and Linfield (730). Willamette and Pacific Lutheran did not field full teams, thus not in scoring positions.

The George Fox Bruins were led by Katelyn Lam, who claimed the individual medalist honor with a score of 77+76=153. Tied for second place were Pacific’s Bead Boonta and Lewis & Clark’s Ahika Jani, with two combined scores of 159. Following the pair was Carolyn Rose of Whitworth (161) and Camila Yoo of Whitman (165), placing fourth and fifth, respectively. In recent competition, Stella Fergin (Whitworth) and Reyna Naranjo (George Fox) tied for 6th place at the UC Santa Cruz Invite with two combined scores of 151.
