Northwest Conference Jack Sareault Award

5064Jack Sareault (1935-2009) served as the sports information director for the Northwest Conference from 1978-1997. He was instrumental in documenting the league's entire sports history, going all the way back to its founding in 1926.

In addition to his work with the NWC, Sareault ran the Northwest Collegiate Sports Service from 1969 to 2002, best known for producing the annual "Little All-Northwest" football and basketball teams honoring the best non-Division I players in the region. His resume also included 23 years as a sportswriter for the Tacoma News Tribune and 11 years as a public information officer for the Washington State Patrol.

Sareault was presented with the College Sports Information Directors of America's (CoSIDA) Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. He is a member of the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame and has been inducted twice into Saint Martin's University's Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor, once as an athlete and once in recognition of his service to Northwest small college athletics.

In recognition of Jack's invaluable work, the Northwest Conference Sports Information Director of the Year award has been named in his honor. The Jack Sareault Award is presented annually to the top SID in the league, following the great example set by Jack to serve the NWC's nine member institutions.
