Blake Timm Voted as Sareault Award Winner

SPOKANE, Wash. - Blake Timm of Pacific University has been selected by his peers within the Northwest Conference as the recipient of the 2010-11 Jack Sareault Award as the conference's Sports Information Director of the Year.

Timm is the first person to win the award, which began in 2005-06, a second time.

The NWC SID of the Year award is named in honor of Jack Sareault, who served as the conference's SID for 19 years (1978 - 1997). Following his retirement, Sareault spent countless hours building detailed histories of NWC sports. Sareault passed away in the fall of 2008.

"I am very humbled to be the first two-time recipient of the Sareault Award," Timm said. "It is an honor to work with one of the best groups of sports information directors in the nation and to be so honored by colleagues and friends."

Over the course of this academic year Timm promoted the first year of Pacific football, oversaw the rollout of new GoBoxers.com website and successfully managed the addition of an assistant SID to the staff. He won three 2011 CoSIDA Fred Stabley, Sr., Writing Contest District VIII awards for general feature, athlete feature & event coverage. And he coordinated the rollout of aa successful video initiative resulting in 60 highlight videos being produced for the website and YouTube.

"There is something special about being able to work at one's alma mater," he said. "Pacific athletics is growing and building in so many positive ways, and I am fortunate to be part of it."

In addition to his work at Pacific, Timm finished a six-year term on the CoSIDA Board of Directors in 2010 and spent 2011 as a member of CoSIDA's College Division Management Advisory Council.  He joined Rotary Club of Forest Grove in March 2011 and serves on the club's scholarship committee.

Timm is going into his fifth year as media relations director for the Pacific University Legends Golf Classic, which raises funds for the University's athletics program. In this role, he has coordinated lead-up tournament publicity, on-site media requests and media sponsorships. He has worked with tournament host and KISS lead guitarist Tommy Thayer, Gene Simmons, George Lopez, John Daly, Lisa Guerrero and others.

Timm recently completed his 12th year as the Pacific University Director of Sports Information.
