2026 Northwest Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Preview

Walla Walla, Wash.– The 2026 Northwest Conference Men’s Tennis Championship is set to begin April 17th with semifinals, with the Championship matches set for 12pm on Saturday April 18th. The Championship is hosted by Whitman College at the Whitman Tennis Courts; all tournament scoring and information can be found on the Tournament Central Page. All matches will be available to livestream through FloCollege. The Northwest Conference Tournament Champions will automatically qualify for a trip to the Division III NCAA Tournament.

Men’s Tournament Schedule
Friday, April 17 (Semifinals)
Match 1: #4 George Fox at #1 Whitman - 10:00 a.m.
Match 2: #2 Whitworth vs. #3 Lewis & Clark - 2:00 p.m. 

Saturday, April 18 (Championship)
Match 3: Winners of match #1 and #2 - 10:00 a.m. 

Whitman Blues (15-5 overall, 14-0 NWC)

The number one-seeded Blues enter the tournament as the regular season champions and the tournament host for the second year in a row with an undefeated conference record. During regular season play, Whitman faced semi-final opponent George Fox twice; the first meeting with the Blues posting a clean sheet (7-0) against the Bruins, and walking away with the second meeting with a 6-1 win. Senior Alexander Stage leads Whitman with a 12-0 NWC record in the No. 1 singles position and joins junior Niklas Jensen on the No. 1 doubles court.

Whitworth Pirates (12-6 overall, 11-3 NWC)

The No. 2 seeded Whitworth Pirates enter the NWC Championship Tournament with just three losses in conference play. They will take on the Lewis & Clark River Otters in their semi-final match, who they split their series with in two close match-ups. Headlining for the Pirates are Henry Preacher, Connor Judson, and Matt Hossack who are in the double digits for singles wins. In other conference matchups, the Pirates swept the Bruins in their series, but were defeated in both encounters with the Whitman Blues. 

Lewis & Clark River Otters (9-10 overall, 9-5 NWC)

Third-seeded Lewis & Clark enter the tournament with 9 conference wins at the conclusion of the regular season. The River Otters are led by freshman No. 1 singles player Kaden Sigurdsson who posted 7 wins and 6 losses in conference play. Other players to watch for the River Otters are Kai Willis and Noah Sutin, who are regularly pair up for the No. 1 Doubles matches. Lewis & Clark will take on Whitworth in their semi-final match– in regular-season play they lost the first match 2-5 and claimed victory 4-3 in the second.

George Fox Bruins (9-9 overall, 8-6 NWC)

Rounding out the field, fourth-seeded George Fox enter the tournament with a 9-9 overall record and 8-6 record against conference opponents. This is the 9th consecutive year the Bruins have earned their place in the NWC Championship Tournament, and they look to get past the top-seeded Whitman Blues in the first semi-final. George Fox fell in two series sweeps In their regular season matchups against Whitman and Whitworth, but split their series with the Lewis & Clark River Otters. The Bruins are led by Zach Moore and Keita Shoji in the top two singles spots, with Aiden Cruz joining Moore on the No.1 doubles court.
