Whitman Claims 2026 NWC Men’s Tennis Tournament Title, Advance to NCAA Tournament

Walla Walla, Wash.– The top-seeded Whitman Blues men’s tennis squad secured the 2026 Northwest Conference Championship title, automatically qualifying them for a trip to the NCAA Division III Tennis Championships. The match took place on Whitman’s home court in Walla Walla, Washington on Saturday, April 18th– making the Whitman men back-to-back tournament and regular season champions. 

Whitman earned the first point in doubles play after a dominant performance by the Blues No. 1 and No. 3 courts. Junior Hanri Luo and first year Guillermo Rodriguez of Whitman dominated in a 6-0 sweep on No. 3, while teammates Alexander Stage and Niklas Jensen on No. 1 secured the doubles point in a 6-2 win. 

In singles play, the Blues continued to extend their lead after some hard-earned matches. Junior Niklas Jensen claimed the first singles point with a straight-set win on court No. 2 over Whitworth’s Henry Preacher, while the second point was claimed on the No. 5 court by Charles Rush over Whitworth opponent Matthew Froslan. The fourth and final point was secured on court No. 1 by Alexander Stage with a straight-set win over his Whitworth opponent. 

The Blues will continue their season and represent the Northwest Conference at the NCAA Division III Tennis Championships, held in Chattanooga, Tennessee during late May. Full schedule details can be found on the NCAA website.
