Faith Kert I Whitworth | SO | Cashmere, Wash. | Cashmere
Kert went 4-0 in her matches this weekend, helping the Pirates earn 7-0 sweeps over both Puget Sound and Willamette. In singles, she allowed her opponents just one set point all weekend on the No. 2 court with a 6-1, 6-0 win on Saturday and 6-0, 6-0 win on Sunday. She went 2-0 alongside teammate Clara Todd on the No. 1 doubles court with a 6-2 win against PS and a 7-6 (7-3) win against the Willamette top duo.
Men’s Tennis - Student-Athlete of the Week
Zach Moore I George Fox | JR | Turner, Ore. | Cascade
The Bruins men’s tennis team had their hopes for postseason play dependent on how they performed in their final two matches of the weekend. Fox secured a close 4–3 victory thanks in part to Moore’s performance on Court No. 1 in both doubles and singles. The junior teamed up with freshman Aiden Cruz to take down the No. 8 doubles team in the ITA Division III West region 7–6 (7–6) before defeating the Wildcats’ No. 1 singles competitor 6–3, 6–2. In the Bruins’ second 4–3 victory over the Boxers, who were also competing for postseason play, Moore narrowly lost his doubles match 6–4 but delivered a dominant singles performance, defeating the No. 1 singles competitor 6–0 in set one before winning set two 6–3.
