Whitworth Takes Early Lead in 2025-26 McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy Race After Fall Season

The Whitworth Pirates have taken an early lead in the race for the 2025-26 McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy, amassing 87 points at the conclusion of the fall season. After securing the past two all-sports trophies, the Pirates again find themselves in a strong position to contend for another conference-wide honor.

Whitworth’s fall season was highlighted by conference titles in football and women’s volleyball, with the latter coming as co-champions alongside the University of Puget Sound. The Pirates also earned runner-up finishes in both women’s and men’s cross country, placed fourth in men’s soccer, and added a sixth-place finish in women’s soccer to cap a consistently strong fall performance.

Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) sits in second place with 71 points. The Lutes excelled once again on the pitch, earning a share of the women’s soccer championship with Puget Sound and securing a runner-up finish in men’s soccer. PLU also tied for third in volleyball, placed third in football, and finished seventh in women’s cross country and eighth in men’s cross country.

The University of Puget Sound is close behind in third with 70 points. The Loggers had an impressive fall, earning co-champion honors in both women’s soccer (with PLU) and women’s volleyball (with Whitworth). Puget Sound added a fourth-place finish in women’s cross country, a sixth-place finish in men’s cross country, a sixth-place finish in men’s soccer, and a seventh-place finish in football.

George Fox University holds fourth place with 62 points. The Bruins swept the cross country titles, winning both women’s and men’s cross country. They also finished ninth in women’s soccer, seventh in men’s soccer, seventh in volleyball, and fourth in football.

Whitman College rounds out the top five with 60 points. The Blues earned the men’s soccer championship title, finished fourth in women’s soccer, placed fifth in volleyball, and recorded fifth-place finishes in both men’s and women’s cross country.

Willamette sits in sixth with 51 points, followed closely by Pacific with 50 points. Linfield is eighth with 48 points, and Lewis & Clark closes the standings with 39 points.

The Northwest Conference All-Sports Trophy recognizes broad-based athletic excellence among NWC institutions across all varsity sports. Named for longtime conference leaders John Lewis and Jane McIlroy, the award honors comprehensive achievement throughout the academic year.
