Schreifels & Borngasser Named NWC Women’s Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week

The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Women’s Soccer for the week of September 10th through September 16th.

Women’s Soccer- Offense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Celeste Schreifels I F I Lewis & Clark | SR | Newbury Park, Calif. | Agoura

Schreifels posted her first collegiate hat trick and scored five goals in two games to lead Lewis & Clark to their first two wins of the season. The Pioneers senior moved into second place in program history for career goals (29) and points (66) and set the program record for career game-winning goals (10) with the game-winning tally in both games. On Saturday, she scored three goals in a 32-minute span of the first half in a 4-1 win over Bushnell. She came back on Sunday and scored the first two goals of the game to help Lewis & Clark overcome an early 1-0 deficit in an eventual 5-1 win over Warner Pacific. Schreifels has scored in three-straight games and leads the NWC with six goals this fall. 

 

Women’s Soccer- Defense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Sam Borngasser I GK I Willamette | SR | Grants Pass, OR | Grants Pass High School

Borngasser helped the Bearcats keep the defending National Champion Cal Lutheran scoreless for the entire match, which ended in a scoreless draw.  She recorded 7 saves for the match, including two big saves on breakaways in the final 15 minutes.  Borngasser also did an outstanding job cutting off crosses and being aggressive in eliminating chances for the Regals.
