Short & Symons Named NWC Women’s Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week

The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Women’s Soccer for the week of September 28th through October 5th.
 

Women’s Soccer- Offense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Kate Short I M I Puget Sound | SO | Denver, Colo. | East

Short logged 80 minutes and 1 shot on goal during Saturday’s 1–0 win. On Sunday, she netted the 88th-minute game-winner in a 2–1 victory over Lewis & Clark, totaling 8 shots (4 on goal).

 

Women’s Soccer- Defense - Student-Athlete of the Week
Mallory Symons I GK I Lewis & Clark | FR | McMinnville, Ore. | McMinnville

Symons made the first start of her collegiate career and played 179 of 180 minutes for Lewis & Clark against two of the top teams in the conference. She registered 11 saves on 14 shots to help Lewis & Clark tie defending Co-NWC Champion Pacific Lutheran University (1-1) and finish 1:52 shy of tying defending Co-NWC Champion University of Puget Sound (2-1 L). The first year stopped a career-high six shots on Saturday in a 1-1 tie against the Lutes and only conceded an own goal to give Lewis & Clark their first result against PLU since 2022.
