George Fox Bruins Claim Victory at 2025 Northwest Conference Lacrosse Championships

NEWBERG, Ore.– The number one seeded George Fox Bruins won a hard fought game against the second-seeded Whitman Blues this Sunday afternoon to earn the 2025 Northwest Conference Lacrosse Championship title. The Bruins celebrated their 12-9 victory at their home field, Austin Sports Complex in Newberg, Oregon. 

Today’s win marked an unblemished Northwest Conference record for the 2025 season, and will send the Bruins to the NCAA Division III Lacrosse Championship Tournament for the sixth consecutive year. 

Junior midfielder Ava Bluhm led the Bruins offense, scoring a team-high of 4 goals, while tacking on an assist and two ground balls. Teammate Claire Abraham added three goals and caused three turnovers, while collecting a ground ball as well. Lana Davis dished out three assists, and teammate Gabriella Muzquiz caused three turnovers. Freshman goalie Myah Pack made her impact defensively, racking up 9 saves in goal for the Bruins. 

The Blues didn’t make it easy for the Bruins, tallying up 9 goals for the day– three of which came from senior midfielder Gracie Maulik. Maulik also disrupted the Bruins run of play, collecting two ground balls and causing three turnovers. Teammates Lola McConaghy, Teagan Huff, and Sarah Hawkins all added two goals a-piece. Goalie Renn Novak kept the Blues in the match, making five saves on the day. 

The Bruins will continue their season in the NCAA Division III Tournament as the Northwest Conference Automatic Qualifier.
