Women’s Tennis - Student-Athlete of the Week
Teleya Blunt I Whitman | JR | La Crescenta, Calif. | Crescenta Valley
Blunt won at both first doubles and first singles to help the Blues to a 6-1 win over Whitworth. The win kept the Blues with the top spot in the conference– junior Teleya Blunt won doubles 6-2 with partner Jin Yu, then earned a 6-1, 7-6 (5) victory at first singles.
Men’s Tennis - Student-Athlete of the Week
Joshua Dela Cruz I Pacific | FR | Ewa Beach, Hawaii | Moanalua
Dela Cruz had an undefeated weekend playing at the #1 singles and #2 doubles positions for the Boxers. On Saturday, the freshman took down 2024 NWC Rookie of the Year, Jason Rowe, in straight sets: 7-5, 6-4. In doubles, Dela Cruz teamed up with junior Ryley Chang to defeat the Puget Sound team of Blakeney and Beckman 6-1. On Sunday, Joshua Dela Cruz led the Pacific team to a win over Lewis and Clark. Josh and Ryley teamed up once more to down the Pioneer pair of Noah Sutin and Joseph Lyon 7-5. Josh followed that up with a stellar performance over the Pioneers’ top player, Noah Sutin, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 and completing a perfect 4-0 weekend.
