Binder & Chio Named NWC Tennis Student-Athletes of the Week

The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Tennis for the week of February 11th through February 17th.

Women’s Tennis - Student-Athlete of the Week
Cassidy Binder I Pacific | SR | Beaverton, Ore. | Beaverton

Binder opened the NWC season with dominating performances, finishing 2-0 over the weekend at both No. 1 singles and 1 doubles. Saturday against Puget Sound, Binder didn't drop a game at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0. Binder teamed up with Stella Nishimura to win 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Sunday against Lewis & Clark, Binder won 6-3, 6-1 at singles and 6-1 at doubles.

Men’s Tennis - Student-Athlete of the Week
Matt Chio I Lewis & Clark | SR | Chino Hills, Calif. | Chino Hills

Chio went 5-0 to lead Lewis & Clark to a 3-0 start to Northwest Conference play. The Pioneers won 24 of 27 matches over the weekend to sweep Willamette (twice) and Pacific University. Chio finished 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles over the weekend. The senior did not drop a set in singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 win at number two singles against Willamette and a 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 win at third singles over Pacific. He tacked on three doubles wins. On Saturday against Willamette, he paired up with Spencer Loucks in match one and Arnav Bishnoi in match two to win 12 of 13 doubles games at number two doubles. He closed out the weekend by pairing up with Loucks for a 6-3 win at third doubles.
