Women’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week
Lexie Matsunaga I Linfield University | SR | Aiea, Hawaii| Punahou
Matsunaga powered Linfield to a non-conference home win over Colorado College on Sunday. The senior won No. 2 singles, 7-5 and 7-6, thanks to a 7-4 tiebreaker. She and teammate Allena Wong won No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-6. Matsunaga is 4-2 on the season as the Wildcats' No. 2.
Men’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week
Quentin Gonzalez I Pacific University| SR | Orange, CA. I Villa Park
Quentin ended the week with 5 wins and only 1 loss after facing off against non-conference Division III opponents. His NWC player of the week campaign started at home with two convincing wins against Colorado College, winning his doubles match (with partner Koby Murata) 8-3, and his singles match 6-2, 6-4. He and the Boxers then traveled to Texas where he picked up two more dominant wins against East Texas Baptist University with an 8-0 doubles win, and a 6-2, 6-3 singles win. His week ended with a singles win over national powerhouse and familiar regional opponent, Trinity University. After losing the first set, Quentin stormed back to win 2-6, 6-2, 10-4. Quentin now stands at a 14-4 record on the season.
