Mukai & Boydell Named NWC Basketball Student- Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in basketball for the week of January 3rd to January 9th.

 

Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

Karli Mukai | Lewis & Clark College| JR | San Jose, Ca.| Leland

Mukai recorded a program-record 38 points in Friday night's 93-90 double overtime win at Whitworth. The Pioneers junior guard averaged 25.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and three assists per game in a pair of conference road tilts. On Friday, Mukai scored 31 of her career-high 38 points in the second half and overtime to lead the Pioneers back from a 20-point deficit and earn their first NWC win of the season. Her 15 made field goals and 38 points are the most by any NWC player this year and she also added a career-high six made 3-pointers. She finished the weekend with a team-high 13 points and tacked on six rebounds and three assists on Saturday at defending NWC Champion Whitman College.

 

Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

Jack Boydell| Willamette University| SR | Sonoma, Ca.| Sonoma Valley

Boydell averaged 24.0 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game as Willamette rallied to defeat Linfield in overtime and lost to Puget Sound. He scored 31 points, one short of his career high, in the win over Linfield. He hit two free throws with 24 seconds left to force overtime. Against Puget Sound, he scored 17 points. In addition, Boydell earned 7 assists against Linfield and had 5 rebounds and 1 steal versus Puget Sound.
