HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Baseball for the week of January 30th to February 6th.
Baseball- Position Student-Athlete of the Week
Will Heron I Lewis & Clark College| SO | Carmichael, Calif. | Rio Americano
Heron led Lewis & Clark with 10 hits and 10 runs batted in to help the Pioneers get off to their first 4-0 start since 2004. The Pioneers first baseman finished the weekend with a team-best .556 batting average, .636 on-base percentage and three doubles. He tacked on three runs scored and three doubles. Heron hit safely in all four games and finished with three hits in each of the Pioneers final three games.
Baseball- Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week
Julien Hernandez I Whitman College | JR | RHP I Palo Alto, Calif. | Menlo School
Hernandez struck out a career-high 14 batters in an 8-2 opening day win for the Blues...tossed six scoreless innings and surrendered only three hits and allowed just 6 baserunners.
