Women’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week
Brianna McNelly | Whitworth | SO | Olympia, WA | Capital
Brianna earned medalist honors at the CLU Regals Invitational by three strokes over some of the best players from the SCIAC. She posted a two-day total of 82-74 - 156 at the Moorpark Country Club and her score on the second day was the best round of the tournament. She trailed by four strokes after the first day.
Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week
Paxton Jones | Willamette | FR | Wellington, New Zealand | Scots College (N.Z.)
Jones took first place by shooting 69-69--138 for 6-under par at the Texas Cup in Plano, Texas, as he won by two strokes. He was the top finisher out of 99 golfers on 17 teams in the 36-hole tournament. Jones helped Willamette place third in the team standings at 583 (286-297), just one stroke out of second place and three strokes off the lead. Jones has recorded three consecutive rounds of 69 in competition. He won the individual title at the Spring Trilogy #1 (18 holes) on the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) Golf Course on March 5.
