WEEK OF NOV. 4-10
Offensive: Michelle McGinn, Lewis & Clark (So., S)
A setter, McGinn (Kailua, Hawaii) had a career-high seven kills in last Saturday's win over NWC champion Whitworth, which was only the second NWC loss for the Pirates this season. In back-to-back games, she hit .333 while passing for 30+ assists in both games. With 18 digs, McGinn hit the 18-dig mark for the fifth time in a game this season. The performances secured her a top-four spot in the NWC leaders for assists per set.
Defensive: Emma Ehlers, Lewis & Clark (Fr., MB)
In a weekend sweep including a win over NWC champ Whitworth, Ehlers (Salem, Ore.) had nine blocks, a career high, to finish the weekend with 17 total blocks (solo and assisted), the most of anyone in the NWC last weekend. Her three solo blocks in both games were the most of any NWC player, too. She also had six kills combined in the two matches and hit .429 against Whitworth.
WEEK OF OCT. 28-NOV. 3
Offensive: Emiko Kahler, Whitworth (Sr., OH)
Kahler (Happy Valley, Ore.) had a huge offensive weekend, leading Whitworth to a pair of wins that clinched the 2019 NWC title. She averaged 5.29 kills per set and hit .367. The senior has moved within 24 kills of setting Whitworth's all-time career record. She added 20 digs, six block assists and two service aces.
Defensive: Halle Hetzler, Pacific Lutheran (Fr., L)
Hetzler (Kailua, Hawaii) led the Lutes in their undefeated weekend, recording a total of 48 digs and averaging 6.00 digs per set.
WEEK OF OCT. 21-27
Offensive: Tallie Davison, Puget Sound (Fr., OH)
Davison (West Linn, Ore.) became the first Logger in seven years to record 20+ kills in a match, recording 22 against Willamette in a 3-1 win. She also recorded 18 kills in a 3-1 win over Lewis & Clark, finishing the weekend with 5.00 kills per set.
Defensive: Bailey LeBreton, George Fox (Fr., MB)
Lebreton (The Dalles, Ore.) put up nine blocks against Pacific Lutheran on the road to help the Bruins snap a 22-match, 11-season losing streak to the Lutes. The freshman middle for the Bruins leads the NWC in blocks per set this season and is in the top 50 in the NCAA this season in blocks per set with 1.01.
WEEK OF OCT. 14-20
Offensive: Emiko Kahler, Whitworth (Sr., OH)
Kahler (Happy Valley, Ore.) had one of the best weekends of her career. She averaged 5.38 kills per set and hit .368, both season-high marks for a full weekend. She added 3.63 digs per set. Whitworth defeated Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound to retake sole possession of first place in the NWC standings.
Defensive: Madison Douglas, Whitworth (Sr., MB)
Douglas (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) had her best blocking weekend of the season, helping the Pirates defeat PLU and Puget Sound to retake sole possession of first place in the NWC standings. She averaged 1.25 blocks per set, finishing with three solos and seven block assists.
WEEK OF OCT. 7-13
Offensive: Jordan Zweifel, Pacific (Ore.) (Jr., OH)
Zweifel (Tillamook, Ore.) had a double double (16 kills and 10 digs) in the straight-set win over Linfield. She followed that up with a 20-kill effort in the five-set win over Willamette. She averaged 4.50 kills per set, .282 hitting percentage and 1.75 digs per set on the weekend.
Defensive: Haley Walz, Pacific (Ore.) (So., L)
Walz (Vancouver, Wash.) averaged 7.50 digs per set as Pacific defeated Linfield in straight sets and won in five over Willamette. She had 20 digs (6.67 digs per set) in the win over Linfield and followed that up with 40 digs (8.00 digs per set) in the five-set win over Willamette.
WEEK OF SEPT. 30-OCT. 6
Offensive: Jordan Zweifel, Pacific (Ore.) (Jr., OH)
Against two of the top teams in the Northwest Conference, Zweifel (Tillamook, Ore.) led the Boxers with 36 kills and 4.0 kills per set, including 22 against Puget Sound in a five-set victory and 14 more against Pacific Lutheran in a four-set victory. Also against the Loggers, she hit .409 to go along with 16 digs and two blocks in the win. In the win over the Lutes, she hit .290 with six digs and three blocks.
Defensive: Elika Unti, Pacific (Ore.) (So., MB)
Unti (Castro Valley, Calif.) recorded 1.44 blocks per set and 13 blocks in nine sets of action as the Boxers posted a five-set win over Puget Sound a four-set win over Pacific Lutheran. Against the Lutes, she was a force in the middle with 10 blocks - a block solo and nine block assists, as the Lutes were held to a .155 hitting percentage.
WEEK OF SEPT. 23-29
Offensive: Emiko Kahler, Whitworth (Sr., OH)
Kahler (Happy Valley, Ore.) led Whitworth offensively to a pair of wins over Whitman and Pacific (Ore.). She averaged 3.86 kills per set and scored a total of 29.5 points in the two matches. She added 4.57 digs per set. The Pirates took over sole possession of first place in the NWC standings with the two wins.
Defensive: Halle Hetzler, Pacific Lutheran (Fr., L)
Hezler (Kailua, Hawaii) Led the Lutes in digs in a weekend road sweep, averaging 5.57 digs per set with a total of 39 in two road wins against George Fox and Linfield.
WEEK OF SEPT. 16-22
Offensive: Emiko Kahler, Whitworth (Sr., OH)
Kahler (Happy Valley, Ore.) led Whitworth to a pair of road wins, including a victory at defending conference champion Pacific Lutheran. She averaged 3.88 kills per set and hit .256. The senior also had a pair of aces and three block assists for a total of 34.5 points.
Defensive: Haley Walz, Pacific (Ore.) (So., DS/L)
Walz (Vancouver, Wash.) led Pacific to a pair of straight-set wins over George Fox and Lewis & Clark to begin Northwest Conference play. The two wins extended the Boxers’ winning streak to a league-best seven in a row. She averaged 5.17 digs per set in the two wins for the Boxers with 15 digs against the Bruins and 16 against the Pios.
WEEK OF SEPT. 9-15
Offensive: Kendall Malone, Lewis & Clark (So., OH)
In a four-set win over Austin, Malone (Denver, Colo.) had 18 kills - one of two 18-plus kills performances in a four-set or less match - and a .241 hitting percentage. Of those with in the NWC with 18 or more kills last week, she also had the top digs performance (19). Malone continues to lead the NWC in kills per set (3.79).
Defensive: Sophia Lawrence, George Fox (Jr., L/DS)
Lawrence (Bellingham, Wash.) /.helped her team snap a losing skid with a match-best 29 digs and two service aces in a four-set win over Austin. The junior libero leads the NWC in digs/set this season and has made a third of the Bruins' total digs so far in 2019.
WEEK OF SEPT. 2-8
Offensive: Danielle Skibiel, Pacific Lutheran (Sr., MB)
Skibiel (Snohomish, Wash.) finished the weekend with 52 kills, averaging 3.06 per set while owning a .353 hitting percentage. The senior a match-high 20 kills in a 3-2 upset of #7 Trinity for the nationally-ranked Lutes while racked up nine blocks against Hardin-Simmons. Finished with 23 blocks over four matches. This is Skibiel's second Student-Athlete of the Week honor in as many weeks.
Defensive: Halle Hetzler, Pacific Lutheran (Fr., L)
Hetzler (Kailua, Hawaii) led the Lutes defensively, averaging 4.35 digs per set, including 20 dig performances against Southwestern and Hardin-Simmons.
WEEK OF AUG. 26-SEPT. 1
Offensive: Danielle Skibiel, Pacific Lutheran (Sr., MB)
Skibiel (Snohomish, Wash.) averaged 3.0 kills per set and 1.15 blocks per set over the weekend, helping the Lutes go 4-0 and drop just one set the entire weekend. She recorded a tournament high 15 kills in a 3-1 win over Rose-Hulman.
Defensive: Kiana Vandaele, Whitworth (Jr., DS)
Vandaele (Makawao, Hawaii) made a strong debut as Whitworth's starting libero. She averaged 4.60 digs per set and also added six service aces (0.40 per set) as the Pirates went 3-1 on the weekend.
