McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports trophy. The Pirates, who led by
seven points after the winter season, won their second straight
trophy and third overall by a final margin of 37 points.
Whitworth won its first women's tennis championship
since 1997 and tied for its first-ever women's golf title to
accumulate 101 points in the spring and 250 total points in the
trophy chase. The Pirates also claimed a pair of
runner-up finishes in men's and women's track and
field. Whitworth finished the 2008-09 season with five
Northwest Conference titles.
UPS was able to hold on to second place in the
final standings with 213 total points. The Loggers earned a
share of the 2009 Women's Golf title and will represent the NWC at
the national tournament. Puget Sound totaled four titles this
year.

third in the final standings by scoring 102 points in the
spring. The Wildcats won the NWC softball championship for

men's golf title. Linfield also added a runner-up finish in
women's tennis.

titles and finished fourth with 194 points, while Pacific Lutheran
University shared the baseball championship with George Fox and

standings, fell back to fifth despite winning men's tennis.
But the Missionaries are at a disadvantage in the spring without
track or softball.

College (122) and George Fox University (121) rounded out the rest
of the standings. Menlo College is credited with 10 points

institutions across all fields of competition. It is named in honor
of John Lewis, the baseball coach (1947-72), basketball coach
(1947-67) and athletics director (1952- 72) at Willamette
University; and Jane McIlroy, Linfield College's women's athletics
director and physical education professor from 1950- 82 who also
coached field hockey (1952-81), basketball, volleyball, softball
