Northwest Conference Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week
April 20
Men's Track - Josh Lovell (Linfield, Jr. Vancouver, Wash./Columbia River) earned an automatic NCAA qualifying mark at the NWC decathlon championships, scoring a career-best 7,003 points in his win over fourteen other participants. The mark is the second-highest total ever at Linfield.
Honorable Mention - Isaac Moog (Pacific Lutheran, So. Centralia, Wash.), David Dillow (George Fox, So. Newberg, Ore.), Dylan Taylor (Pacific, So. Boulder, Colo.).
Women's Track - Amy LeBrun (Pacific Lutheran, Sr. Portland, Ore./Portland, Ore.) won the 100 at the PLU Invitational this weekend, with a time of 12.62. LeBrun also finished second in the 200 (26.24) and anchored the winning 400 relay (49.14).
Honorable Mention - Melissa Leighty (George Fox, So. Canby, Ore.), Marci Klimek (Linfield, Jr. Phoenix, Ore.), Amanda Basham (Pacific, Fr. Sweet Home, Ore.).
Men's Field - Jeff Kintner (Whitworth, Jr. Wenatchee, Wash./Wenatchee) set a meet record in the shot put at the CWU Spike Arlt and was two millimeters away from an automatic qualifying mark with his throw of 16.88. Kintner's mark may lead the nation at the Division III level after this weekend. He also competed in the discus and hammer, finishing 11th and 3rd respectively.

Women's Field - Angie Miller (Pacific, So. Alsea, Ore./Alsea) set a school record and earned a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Division III Championships in the long jump this weekend at the L&C Pioneer Open. Her mark of 17-11.75 currently ranks as the 18th best in the nation this season.

April 13
Men's Track - Emmanuel Bofa (Whitworth, Jr. Puyallup, Wash./Emerald Ridge) defeated several runners from NCAA Division I schools Eastern Washington and Portland State to win the 800 in an NCAA provisional qualifying mark (1:52.22) at the Washington-Oregon Clash. Bofa then came from behind to anchor Whitworth to a win in the 4x400 relay with an NWC-best time for 2009.
Honorable Mention - Darrell Stewart (Puget Sound, Sr. Long Beach, Calif.), Eric Coats (Pacific, So. Powell Butte, Ore.), Garrett Blizzard (George Fox, Sr. Las Vegas, Nev.).
Women's Track - Irene Johnson (George Fox, So. Portland, Ore./David Douglas) won the 100 meter dash at the Pacific Luau this weekend with a time of 12.88. She also won the 100 hurdles (15.41) and ranks 1st in the NWC in the 100 meter dash and 3rd in the hurdles.
Honorable Mention - Elizabeth Mattila (Whitworth, So. Ferndale, Wash.), Lexie Miller (Pacific Lutheran, Sr. Tacoma, Wash.), Amanda Basham (Pacific, Fr. Sweet Home, Ore.).
Men's Field - Jacob Monroe (Willamette, Sr. Keizer, Ore./McNary) improved his NCAA provisional mark in the hammer throw from 174'2" to a new personal record of 176'0" at the Pacific Northwest Relays. He finished in first place in the hammer. Monroe also took second in the discus throw at 141'6" and was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 44'8".

Women's Field - Taylor Hacker (Pacific Lutheran, Sr. Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor) won the hammer throw at the Vernacchia @ WWU this weekend, with a throw of 179-5 among 17 other competitors. Taylor has four hammer throws this year exceeding the former school record. She also finished 5th in the shot put (36-8 ½ ) and 9th in the discus (105-7).

April 6
Men's Track - Kyle Kotaich (Willamette, Jr. Florence, Ore./Siuslaw) recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 1,500-meter run at 3:54.79 on Friday, April 3 at the Willamette Invitational. He placed seventh in the event and was the top Division III student-athlete finisher (the top six were five DII and one DI). The next day, he placed 18th out of 62 and was the top NWC student-athlete in the 800-meter run at 1:56.20.
Honorable Mention - John Torsey (Linfield, Sr. Bend, Ore.),Emmanuel Bofa (Whitworth, Jr. Puyallup, Wash.), Nate Dillow (George Fox, So. Newberg, Ore.), Isaac Moog (Pacific Lutheran, So. Centralia, Wash.), Avery Neal (Pacific, So. Los Alamos, N.M.), Darrell Stewart (Puget Sound, Sr. Long Beach, Calif.).
Women's Track - Maddie Coffman (Willamette, Jr. Boise, Idaho/Boise) took third place and was the top collegiate finisher with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 17:02.33 in the 5,000-meter run at the Willamette Invitational. Her time currently leads NCAA Division III and was well below the NCAA provisional standard of 17:35. Coffman's time placed her second on Willamette's all-time Top 10 list, trailing only Sarah Zerzan.

Men's Field - Grant Piros (Willamette, Sr. Newberg, Ore./Newberg) improved his NCAA provisional mark in the javelin by eight feet with a personal record throw of 202'9" at the Willamette Invitational. He placed fourth in the event. His PQ earlier this spring was 194'9" and his previous career best was 200'4" last year. Piros also took 10th place out of 30 entries in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.75 seconds and was 15th out of 29 entries in the long jump at 20'3.5".
Honorable Mention - Cody Stelzer (Whitworth, Jr. The Dalles, Ore.), Sam McKenzie (George Fox, Sr. Colorado Springs, Colo.), Clint Moore (Linfield, Jr. Moro, Ore.), Ryan Culp (Pacific, Fr. Woodburn, Ore.), Mycal Ford (Pacific Lutheran, Fr. Tukwila, Wash.).
Women's Field - Beth Stam (George Fox, Fr. Siletz, Ore./Toledo) posted the best javelin throw in NWC this year at 139-11/42.64 which is a NCAA provisional qualifying mark and 4th-best in nation. Stam also moved into fourth in NWC in the long jump with a 4th place finishing 17-0/5.18 jump. Both finishes were at the Willamette Invitational.

March 30
Men's Track - Josh Lovell (Linfield, Jr. Vancouver, Wash./Columbia River) topped a field of 20 competitors in the decathlon at the Linfield Multis this weekend. His 6,582 points bettered the NCAA provisional qualifying standard and just missed the automatic standard by 18 points. He won four of 10 individual events.
Honorable Mention - Elorm Atisu (Whitworth, So. Accra, Ghana), Dakari Kongela (George Fox, Jr. Sammamish, Wash.)
Women's Track - Tonya Turner (Whitworth, So. Spokane, Wash./Mead) won the 5k at the Buc Scoring Invite in a time of 18:34.68. It is Turner's season-best mark and 3rd best overall in the Northwest Conference.
Honorable Mention - Irene Johnson (George Fox, So. Portland, Ore.)
Men's Field - Jeff Kintner (Whitworth, Jr. Wenatchee, Wash./Wenatchee) posted NCAA provisional qualifying marks in both the shot put and hammer throw this weekend as he won both events at the Buc Scoring Invite. Kintner improved his NWC-leading shot put by four inches and is now within a meter of the top NWC throw in the hammer.

Women's Field - Cindy Walsh (George Fox, Jr. Dayton, Ore./Dayton) improved her own first place mark in the Northwest Conference in the long jump, finishing second out of 23 at the PLNU Collegiate Scoring this weekend. Walsh's mark was 17-10.25.
March 23
Women's Track - Kimber Mattox (Willamette, Fr., Bend, Ore. - Bend) went 4:38.67 in the 1,500 meters at the Oregon Preview, an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and the fastest time in the NWC this season. She moved into 10th on Willamette's all-time list in the event.
Honorable Mention - Marci Klimek (Linfield, Jr., Phoenix, Ore. - Phoenix, 3,000 SC); Cheyenne Feliz (L&C, So., Davis, Calif. - Davis, 200/400 dash); Faven Araya (PLU, Sr., Portland, Ore. - Portland Lutheran, 200/400/100h/400h); Elizabeth Mattilla (Whitworth, So., Ferndale, Wash. - Ferndale, 400h); Lizzy Alaimo (George Fox, So., The Dalles, Ore. - The Dalles, 100h/100 dash).
Women's Field - Caitlin McGrane (UPS, Jr., Colville, Wash. - Colville) posted an NCAA provisional qualifying score of 4,325 in the pentathlon while finishing fourth at the Cal State Northridge Spring Break Open. She won her group in the 100 hurdles (15.46) and javelin (103'-7").

Men's Track - Emmanuel Bofa (Whitworth, Jr., Puyallup, Wash. - Emerald Ridge) won the 800 meters at the Oregon Preview with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 1:51.74, nearly reaching the NCAA automatic mark of 1:51.10.

Men's Field - Jacob Monroe (Willamette, Sr., Keizer, Ore. - McNary) won three throwing events at the Charles Bowles Spring Break Classic. His throw of 174'-2" in the hammer is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. He also posted winning marks of 150'-4" in the discus and 45'-9" in the shot put.

March 16
Men's Track - Isaac Moog (Pacific Lutheran, So. Centralia, Wash./Centralia) set a meet record for the 400 meters at the Joe Peyton Invitational with a winning time of 50.02. Moog also finished second in the triple jump (43-2 ¼ ) and fifth in the 200 (22.96).
Honorable Mention - Jared Forell (Linfield, Jr. Milwaukie, Ore.), Paul Winger (Willamette, Fr. Bonney Lake, Wash.), Tony Lam (Pacific, So. Portland, Ore.), Ryan Forbes (George Fox, Sr. Jackson, Wyo.).
Women's Track - Lakia Arceneaux (Pacific Lutheran, So. Puyallup, Wash./Emerald Ridge) had season bests in both the 100 (12.89) and 200 (26.84), finishing third and second respectively. She also ran on the winning 400-meter relay team (49.55).
Honorable Mention - Kimber Mattox (Willamette, Fr. Bend, Ore.), Lisa Mensonides (George Fox, Sr. Tacoma, Wash.), Amanda Basham (Pacific, Fr. Sweet Home, Ore.).
Men's Field - Grant Piros (Willamette, Sr. Newberg, Ore./Newberg) recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying distance in the javelin with a throw of 194'9" as part of the decathlon competition at the Willamette vs. Western Oregon Dual. His throw ranks second on this year's NCAA Division III list. He won the decathlon with a personal record of 6,048 points and missed the NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the decathlon by just two points.
Honorable Mention - Sam McKenzie (George Fox, Sr. Colorado Springs, Colo.), Murphy Busek (Pacific, So. Mountain View, Hawaii).
Women's Field - Taylor Hacker (Pacific Lutheran, Sr. Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor) obliterated the Pacific Lutheran women's hammer throw record by more than 13 feet. She came into the meet with the second best throw in PLU history at 171-5, two inches behind the school record 171-7 set by Corie Krueger in 1997. On Saturday at the Joe Peyton Invitational, Hacker had an incredible throw of 184-8 to shatter school, meet and stadium records in the event. She won the hammer, and also finished third in both the shot put and discus throw.

March 9
Men's Track - Dusty Caseria (Whitworth, Jr. Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) topped his teammate Emmanuel Bofa's best time to date in the NWC this year in the 800, winning the event at 1:54.94 in the CC Spokane Mini Meet. His win was against twelve other runners.
Honorable Mention - Leo Castillo (Willamette, Fr. Parkdale, Ore.), Darrell Stewart (Puget Sound, Sr. Long Beach, Calif.), Adrian Shipley (Pacific, Sr. Forest Grove, Ore.), Isaac Moog (Pacific Lutheran, So. Centralia, Wash.), Nate Dillow (George Fox, So. Newberg, Ore.).
Women's Track - Marci Klimek (Linfield, Jr. Phoenix, Ore./Phoenix) broke the 20-year-old Linfield record in the 10,000, winning the Lin Icebreaker event by more than a minute and posting a NCAA provisional mark (36:21.82).
Honorable Mention -Lisa Mensonides (George Fox, Sr.), Jena Winger (Willamette, Sr. Bonney Lake, Wash.), Lauren Barnard (Pacific, Fr. Lyons, Colo.), Amy LeBrun (Pacific Lutheran, Sr. Portland, Ore.).
Men's Field - Joey VanHoomissen (Whitworth, Sr. Renton, Wash./Kentridge) finished 1st and 2nd in the Discus and Hammer respectively in the CC Spokane Mini Meet this weekend. VanHoomissen's toss of 161-10 in the Hammer is best in the NWC this season. His win in the Discus cam with a throw of 142-3.
Honorable Mention - Alverno Middleton (Puget Sound, Sr. Lakewood, Wash.) Jacob Monroe (Willamette, Sr. Keizer, Ore.), Ben Burgess (George, Fox, Sr. Grants Pass, Ore.).
Women's Field - Risa Allen (Pacific, Sr. Portland, Ore./Univ. of Puget Sound) earned NWC Championships qualifying marks in both the triple jump (35-0.25) and Long Jump (16-3.75). In her winning triple jump distance, Allens's effort was two feet better than what she had at the Linfield Icebreaker last year.

March 2
Men's Track - Nate Dillow (George Fox, So. Newberg, Ore./Marist) won both hurdle events at the Frank Haskins Invitational. In the 110 hurdles, Dillow won with a time of 15.68. This time, along with his 58.12 in the 400 hurdles, are both NWC qualifying times.
Honorable Mention - Isaac Moog (Pacific Lutheran, So. Centralia, Wash.), Emmanuel Bofa (Whitworth, Jr. Puyallup, Wash.), Nick Rebol (Willamette, So. Cottonwood, Calif.)
Women's Track - Kimber Mattox (Willamette, Fr. Bend, Ore./Cornell University) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Willamette Opener with a time of 11:08.33 to rank third on the Bearcats' all-time list. Her time was under the NCAA Provisional qualifying standard, but does not count for national qualification since the meet was held prior to March 1. She led a 1-2 Willamette finish.

Men's Field - Joel Krebs (George Fox, Sr. Salem, Ore./Salem Academy) won the javelin in the Frank Haskins Invitational with a measurement of 191-10.5 (59.09 m). In the first meet of the season, the mark already tops the NCAA 2009 DIII provisional minimum (marks before March 1 will not count toward qualifying).

Women's Field - Taylor Hacker (Pacific Lutheran, Sr. Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor) won the hammer throw at the PLU Spring Open, with a toss of 167-1, a little more than four feet short of the PLU school record and four feet short of her own PR. Hacker also won the shot put, with a throw of 37-0 ½.
Honorable Mention - Amber Scott (Whitworth, Jr. Chatteroy, Wash.), KayCee Hallstrom (Linfield, So. Elmira, Ore.), Beth Stam (George Fox, Fr. Siletz, Ore.), Katie Peterson (Willamette, Fr. Independence, Ore.)
