April 16

Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Brandon Howell (Whitworth, Jr., Clarkston, Wash. - Clarkston) won the 800 at the Sam Adams Classic in a school and track record time of 1:51.34, coming within .04 of an automatic NCAA qualifying mark and improving his NWC-best time by two seconds.
Honorable Mention: Josh Lovell (Linfield, Fr., Dec); Grant Piros (Willamette, So., Dec); Jarrod McCann (L&C, Sr., 800); Justin Donovan (Pacific, Sr., sprints); David Mathiang (George Fox, So., 800).

Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Jessica Brassard (George Fox, Fr., Castle Rock, Wash. - Castle Rock) became only the fifth NWC runner this season to break 13 seconds in the 100 dash with a time of 12.99 at the L&C Invite on Saturday.
Honorable Mention: Amanda Phillips (L&C, Jr., 800); Jordyn Smith (Willamette, Jr., Hept); Faven Araya (PLU, so., Hurdles); Emily Hurd (Whitworth, Jr., 1,500); Caitlyn Tateishi (L&C, Jr., 3,000 SC).

Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Ryan Forbes (George Fox, So., Jackson, Wyo. - Jackson Hole) won the NWC Decathlon with an NCAA provisional qualifying score of 6,454 points, the best score in DIII to date. He came back from fourth place after day one.
Honorable Mention: Grant Piros (Willamette, So., Dec); Ross Bartlett (Pacific, So., Jav).

Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Brooke Barker (Pacific, Sr., Eugene, Ore. - Sheldon) won the NWC Heptathlon with an NCAA provisional qualifying score of 4,196 points. She had been in fifth place after the first day of competition.
Honorable Mention: Melinda Fahey (Willamette, So., throws); Victoria Black (George Fox, Sr., PV, Jav); Megan Wochnick (PLU, Sr., Hammer); Mara Daugs (Whitworth, So., TJ).

April 9

Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Sarah Zerzan (Willamette, Jr., San Carlos, Calif. - Notre Dame) set a school record while placing first in the 5,000 ran at the Willamette Invitational with a time of 16:28.54. She automatically qualified for the NCAA DIII Championships
Honorable Mention: Rachel Giffey-Brohaugh (George Fox, Jr., 800/4x400); Joanna Murphy (Linfield, Sr., Dist.); Shana Shosky (Pacific, Sr., 10K); Faven Araya (PLU, so., Hurdles); Tamma Carleton (L&C, So., 5K).

Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Jake Moe (George Fox, Sr., Anchorage, Alaska - Anchorage Christian) won the 3,000 Steeplechase at the Willamette Invite with an NCAA provisional qualifying and NWC-best time of 9:21.83. It is currently ranked 4th in DIII and is the seventh best mark in school history.

Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Suzy Viducich (Whitworth, Sr., Hillsboro, Ore. - Hillsboro) cleared an NWC-best height of 5'-2.25" in the high jump at the EWU Pelluer Invitational.
Honorable Mention: Karin Hatch (PLU, Fr., jav.); Victoria Black (George Fox, Sr., PV/jav.); Elizabeth Andrews (Willamette, Fr., PV).

Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Kreig Holland (Linfield, Jr., Tualatin, Ore. - Tualatin) posted an NWC-best mark of 46'-5.5" while winning the triple jump at the Shotwell Invitational. He also finished third in the long jump (22'-1.5") and in the high jump (6'-0.75").
Honorable Mention: Jacob Monroe (Willamette, So., throws); Bobby Larkins (Pacific, So., throws); Matt Gurlides (George Fox, Fr., jumps); Greg Bailey (UPS, So., throws).

April 2

Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Brandon Howell (Whitworth, Jr., Clarkston, Wash. - Clarkston) won the 800 run at the Buc Scoring Invitational with an NWC-best time of 1:54.23, then anchored the Whitworth 4x400 relay to a come-from-behind win over Central Washington with a time of 3:24.61.
Honorable Mention: Pete Van Sant (UPS, Jr., sprints); Josh Lovell (Linfield, Fr., Decath); Jake Moe (George Fox, Sr., 1,500).

Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Rachel Giffey-Brohaugh (George Fox, Jr., Renton, Wash. - Christian Faith) won the 1,500 with a time of 4:39.98 at the Pt. Loma Spring Break Invite, posting the second fastest time in DIII this season. She was also part of the 4x400 relay (4:01.23) that finished third.
Honorable Mention: Jo E Mayer (Whitworth, Fr., 5k); Brittany Hodgson (UPS, Jr., dist.)

Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Joel Krebs (George Fox, So., Salem, Ore. - Salem Acad.) won the javelin at the Pt. Loma Invite with a throw of 196'-9", the best mark in NCAA DIII to date and a provisional national qualifier.
Honorable Mention: Jeff Kintner (Whitworth, Fr., throws).

Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Brooke Barker (Pacific, Sr., Eugene, Ore. - Sheldon) won the heptathlon at the Linfield Multi-Event Invitational with a score of 3,968 points.

March 26

Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Sarah Zerzan (Willamette, Jr., San Carlos, Calif. - Notre Dame) automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III championships in the 10k with a time of 35:20.17 at the Charles Bowles Spring Classic, breaking the school record of 36:03.64 set by Danya Rumore in 2004.
Honorable Mention: Joanna Murphy (Linfield, Sr., Steeple); JulieKay Brown (George Fox, Jr., 400); Jo E. Mayer (Whitworth, Fr., 3k); Caitlin McGrane (UPS, Fr., 100h/800); Katie Choate (PLU, Fr., 800).

Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Pete Van Sant (UPS, Jr., Santa Cruz, Calif. - Santa Cruz) won the 200 dash (22.75) at the UPS Open and also anchored both the 4x100 relay (43.49) and 4x400 relay (3:31.91). The 400 relay won and the 1,600 relay was 4th.
Honorable Mention: Julio Vieyra (Willamette, Sr., Steeple); Jake Moe (George Fox, Sr., 1,500); Ben Spaun (Whitworth, Jr., 110hh); Reggie Torres (Pacific, So., sprints).

Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Brooke Barker (Pacific, Sr., Eugene, Ore. - Sheldon) tossed the javelin at the Charles Bowles Classic 135'-0", an NWC and NCAA DIII best mark so far this spring. She also finished fifth in the shot put (37'-10.5").
Honorable Mention: Karin Hatch (PLU, Fr., Jav); Risa Allen (UPS, So., Jumps); Kristen Dormaier (Whitworth, Jr., TJ).

Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Ben Dillow (George Fox, Jr., Kirkland, Wash. - Cedar Park Christian) scored 6,371 points in the decathlon at the Point Loma Multi Events, setting a new best mark in NCAA DIII this season. He finished 3rd of 12 overall.
Honorable Mention: Ryan Bronson (Linfield, Fr., Jav); AJ Middleton (UPS, So., SP); Cody Stelzer (Whitworth, Fr., HJ); Grant Piros (Willamette, So., Dec); Ross Bartlett (Pacific, So., Jav).

March 19

Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Drew Lackman (Willamette, So., Gig Harbor, Wash. - Gig Harbor) posted the NWC's fastest time this season in the 400 hurdles (55.34) and the conference's second best time in the 110 high hurdles (15.34) at the Oregon Preview.
Honorable Mention: John Torsey (Linfield, So., 100 dash); Dusty Caseria (Whitworth, Fr., 1,500); James Burnett (PLU, Jr., sprints); Justin Donovan (Pacific, Sr., sprints); Jake Moe (George Fox, Sr., 3k).

Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Sarah Zerzan (Willamette, Jr., San Carlos, Calif. - Notre Dame) ran the 10th fastest time in NCAA Division III history in the 3,000 meters while setting a school record and finishing second at the Oregon Preview.
Honorable Mention: Joanna Murphy (Linfield, Sr., 5k); Michelle Hegg (PLU, So., mid-distance); Bethany Adams (G. Fox, Jr., 1,500)

Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Ben Spaun (Whitworth, Jr., Wenatchee, Wash. - Wenatchee) earned an NCAA provisional qualifying score of 6,138 points while winning the decathlon at the Whitworth Multi Events Invite.
Honorable Mention: Grant Piros (Willamette, So., Jav); Josh Lovell (Linfield, Fr., LJ/HJ); Reggie Torres (Pacific, So., LJ).

Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Megan Wochnick (PLU, Sr., Wilsonville, Ore. - Wilsonville) won the hammer at the PLU Invitational with a toss of 153'-2", setting the NWC's best mark this year and provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
Honorable Mention: Melinda Fahey (Willamette, Jr., throws); Kristin Dormaier (Whitworth, Jr., Hept.); Katie Alaimo (George Fox, Jr., HJ).

March 12

Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Jena Winger (Willamette, So., Bonney Lake, Wash. - Sumner) posted the NWC's best time to date in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 11:17.72 at the Willamette Mini Meet, just missing NCAA provisional qualifying and winning by more than 16 seconds.
Honorable Mention: Rachel Giffey-Brohaugh (George Fox, Jr., 800); Shana Shosky (Pacific, Sr., distance).

Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Matt Strum (Linfield, So., Salem, Ore. - South Salem) won the 400 meter dash at the NWC South Meet in a conference-best time of 49.87. He was also part of the winning 4x400 relay (3:23.15).
Honorable Mention: John Zagnaniacz (George Fox, Fr., 400 hurdles, relay); Ben Spaun (Whitworth, Jr., 110 HH); Drew Lackman (Willamette, So., hurdles); Justin Donovan (Pacific, Sr., sprints).

Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Brooke Barker (Pacific, Sr., Eugene, Ore. - Sheldon) won the shot put at the NWC South Meet with a toss of 40'-0", setting a new school record and posting the best mark in the NWC to date.
Honorable Mention: Melinda Fahey (Willamette, Jr., throws); Jennie Fryer (George Fox, So., Jav); Suzy Viducich (Whitworth, Sr., HJ).

Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Cody Stelzer (Whitworth, Fr., The Dalles, Ore. - The Dalles) jumped 6'-8.75" in the high jump to finish 6th at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. (Rose-Hulman Inst.), becoming the first Pirate to earn All-American honors at the indoor national meet.

March 5

Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Scott Vanassche (Linfield, Jr., Milwaukie, Ore. - Putnam) Won two individual sprints and was part of two relays at the Linfield Icebreaker. He won the 100 dash in 10.79, the 200 dash in 21.98, and was part of the winning 4x400 (3:22.95) and the second place 4x100 (43.01). The 100 and 200 times are among the top-10 in school history.
Honorable Mention: Drew Lackman (Willamette, So., hurdles); Jake Moe (George Fox, Sr., steeple); Jacob Dietz (Whitworth, Jr., 10k); James Burnett (PLU, Jr., sprints).

Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week: Andrea May (Willamette, Sr., Bellingham, Wash. - Sehome) sprinted to wins in both the 100 dash (12.53) and the 200 dash (25.77) at the Willamette Opener. She defeated a competitor from NCAA DI Portland in both races.
Honorable Mention: Joanna Murphy (Linfield, Sr., 10k); Katie Choate (PLU, Fr., 800/1500); Lisa Mensonides (George Fox, So., 400); Caitlyn Tateishi (Pacific, Jr., 10k).

Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Kory Kemp (Whitworth, So., Redmond, Wash. - Bellevue Christian) provisionally qualified for the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships in the javelin his first competition of the spring. He won the event in 192'-10", setting a lifetime PR by more than 11 feet.
Honorable Mention: Jacob Monroe (Willamette, So., throws); AJ Middleton (UPS, So., shot); Bret Hamilton (George Fox, Fr., LJ); Bobby Larkins (Pacific, So., throws).

Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week: Melinda Fahey (Willamette, Jr., Salem, Ore. - McKay) won both the discus (126'-3") and the hammer (128'-6") throws at the Willamette opener, winning each event by more than 10 feet and just missing a provisional qualifying mark in the hammer.
Honorable Mention: Megan Wochnick (PLU, Sr., indoor weight throw); Victoria Black (GFU, Sr., PV).
