2000 NORTHWEST CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Oct. 30 - Nov. 4

NWC Volleyball Player of the Week: Karen Elmgren (UPS, So., MH, Monroe, WA) recorded 33 kills, while adding three digs and eight blocks in two wins, which clinched an undefeated season for the Loggers.
Honorable Mention: Anna Gradek (Linfield, MB) had 31 kills, 21 digs and six blocks in two matches; Kelly Sorenson (Willamette, OH) had 28 kills and 42 digs in two matches; Kristen Turner (Whitworth, MB) recorded 26 kills and six blocks in two wins; Suzanne Beauchene (PLU, OH) had 21 kills, 22 digs and five blocks in two wins; Jill Huber (Whitman, MB) recorded 15 kills, 15 digs, nine aces and five blocks in two matches.

Oct. 23-29

NWC Volleyball Player of the Week: Devon McGinnis (L&C, Jr., MB, Austin, TX) had 27 kills, 18 digs, 8 aces and 8 block as the Pioneers went 1-1.
Honorable Mention: Adriane Ougendal (UPS, OH) recorded 27 kills and 28 digs in two victories; Lindsey Wagstaff (Whitworth, MB) finished with 24 kills and 42 digs in two matches; Jenne Heu-Weller (PLU, S) had 102 assists in two matches; Denise Lum-Lung (Linfield, OH) had 13 kills, 23 digs and four aces, while hitting .393 in two wins; Ann Kaltwasser (Pacific, MB) had 20 kills and two blocks in two matches.

Oct. 16-22

NWC Volleyball Player of the Week: Kristen Turner (Whitworth, So., MB, Reardan, Wash.) recorded 36 kills and six blocks while hitting .382 in a pair of wins.
Honorable Mention: Jeni Brown (Whitman, OH) had 27 kills, 43 digs and four aces in two wins; Renee Beauchene (PLU, MB) had 15 kills and hit .247 in two matches, during the second of which, she accepted a marriage proposal.

Oct. 9-15

NWC Volleyball Player of the Week: Jill Huber (Whitman, Fr., MB, Enumclaw, WA) had 27 kills, 27 digs, nine blocks and four aces in two roads wins, while hitting .453.
Honorable Mention: Karen Elmgren (UPS, M) had 33 kills in two road wins; Kristen Turner (Whitworth, MB) hit .531 with 19 kills and three blocks in two road wins; Katie Leitheiser (Linfield, S) averaged 10.5 assists per game, while adding six kills and 28 digs in a pair of wins; Suzanne Beauchene (PLU, OH) had 43 kills and 36 digs as PLU split a pair of weekend matches.

Oct. 2 - 8

NWC Volleyball Player of the Week: Karen Elmgren (UPS, So., MB, Monroe, WA) wins the award for the second week in a row. She led UPS to a 3-0 week by recording 47 kills, 18 blocks and eight digs.
Honorable Mention: Jenni Linden (Willamette, MH) had 24 kills, 28 digs and 3 blocks in two road wins; Jill Huber (Whitman, MB) recorded 28 kills, 24 digs and seven blocks in two matches; Amy Forbes (George Fox, OH) had 38 kills, 22 digs and two blocks in two matches; Lindsey Wagstaff (Whitworth, MB) finished with 23 kills, 21 digs and eight blocks in two matches; Erin McGinn (PLU, OH) recorded 26 kills and 26 digs in two matches; Anna Gradek (Linfield, OH) had 20 kills, 12 digs and four blocks in two matches.

Sept. 25-Oct. 1

NWC Volleyball Player of the Week: Karen Elmgren (UPS, So., MB, Monroe, WA) recorded 40 kills and eight blocks in two wins last week. She had 30 kills, while hitting .462 in the win at Whitworth.
Honorable Mention: Katie Leitheiser (Linfield, S) had 78 assists, 4 kills, 21 digs and 2 blocks in two wins; Kristen Turner (Whitworth, MB) recorded 39 kills and 4 blocks in two matches; Molly Thomas (L&C, OH) recorded 12 kills and 24 digs in a win at Pacific; Kelly Sorenson (Willamette, OH) had 70 kills, 88 digs, 5 aces and 3 blocks in five matches last week.

Sept. 18-24

NWC Volleyball Player of the Week: Mindi Yost (George Fox, So., S, Sisters, Ore.) led the Bruins to a 2-0 week by recording 92 assists (13.14 apg), 40 digs, and eight blocks.
Honorable Mention: Lindsi Webber (UPS, S) recorded 88 assists and 22 digs in two NWC wins; Jenni Linden (Willamette, OH) recorded 36 kills, 41 digs, and 17 blocks in three matches; Sara Kaiser (Linfield, MB) had 27 kills in two wins; Kristen Turner (Whitworth, MB) had 25 kills, eight digs, and 7 blocks in two matches; Jeni Brown (Whitman, OH) had 24 kills and 51 digs in two losses; Krissy Forry (L&C, OH) had 29 kills, 29 digs and 8 blocks in two losses; Ann Kaltwasser (Pacific, OH) had 34 kills in three losses.

Sept. 11-17

Player of the Week: Anna Gradek (Linfield, Sr., MB, McMinnville, Ore) led the Wildcats to a pair of 3-0 wins last week, including a victory at defending NWC champ PLU, by recording 29 kills, 26 digs, 3 block solos, 1 block assist, 2 aces and 2 assists.
Honorable Mention: Kristen Turner (Whitworth, MB) hit .415 while recording 22 kills, 1 block solo and 5 block assists in two wins; Karen Elmgren (UPS, OH) had 23 kills in two wins; Lizzie Woodburn (L&C, S) recorded 46 assists, 9 kills, 10 digs and 4 aces in two conference losses.

Sept. 4-10

Player of the Week: Eileen Gamache (UPS, Sr., OH) recorded 26 kills, 46 digs and three aces in a pair of wins that raised the Logger's record to 6-0 last week. One of the wins was over #12 CSU-Hayward.
Honorable Mention: Kelly Williams (Whitman, OH) had 75 kills in five matches last week, including 62 in four matches at the Gustavus Adolphus tournament, for which she earned an All-Tournament designation; Anna Gradek (Linfield, MB) was named to the Colorado College All-Tournament team after recording 53 kills in four matches; Kristen Turner (Whitworth, MB) recorded 39 kills, nine digs, 16 solo blocks and 21 block assists, while being named to the Colorado College All-Tournament team; Jenni Linden (Willamette, MH) had 18 kills, 27 digs, two BS and four BA in two matches; Nicole Bostic (George Fox, OH) had 32 kills and 40 digs in a pair of narrow Bruin losses last week; Lizzie Woodburn (L&C, S) totaled 66 assists and 23 digs in two losses; Cara Smith (PLU, OH) recorded 23 kills, five aces and 14 digs in two matches, both losses.
