NORTHWEST CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Nov. 1 - 6

Player of the Week: Mettie Burris (PLU, Jr., MB, Portland, OR) led the Lutes to road wins over Willamette and George Fox by recording 27 kills (.300 hitting percentage), 19 digs, 3 solo blocks and 6 block assists. Honorable Mention: Sharon Barnett (George Fox, OH) recorded 33 kills (.191), 23 digs and 4 blocks in two matches; Julie Lines (Pacific, MB) recorded 20 kills and 27 digs in win over UPS; Lindsey Wagstaff (Whitworth, MB) had 19 kills (.486), 10 digs and 3 blocks only match.

Oct. 25-31

Player of the Week: Sharon Barnett (George Fox, Sr., OH, Salem, OR) recorded 39 kills (while hitting .364), 31 digs, an ace and an assist while leading the Bruins to a pair of crucial Northwest Conference wins last week, moving the team into a tie for first place. Honorable Mention: Eileen Gamache (UPS, OH) recorded 37 kills (.297), 37 digs and two blocks in two Logger wins last week; Lindsey Wagstaff (Whitworth, MB) had 28 kills (.329) and 30 digs in two weekend matches; Ingrid Lindeblad (PLU, S) had 145 assists, 50 digs and three kills in three matches; Devon McGinnis (L&C, RS) recorded 29 kills (.359), 7 blocks and five digs and an ace in two matches; Julie Lines (Pac., OH) recorded 29 kills in three matches.

Oct. 18-24

Player of the Week: Barby Ream (Whitman, Sr., MB, Seattle, WA) led the Missionaries to a 3-0 week by totaling 35 kills, 55 digs, 17 blocks and 3 aces in the three matches. Honorable Mention: Sharon Barnett (George Fox, OH) had 44 kills, 38 digs, 4 blocks in three matches; Kelly Sorenson (Willamette, OH) had 19 kills, 83 digs, 3 aces and 2 blocks in three matches; Kristen Turner (Whitworth, OH) had 33 kills and 4 blocks in three matches; Aimee Sloboden (PLU, OH) hit .469 with 17 kills and two blocks in two matches.

Oct. 11-17

Player of the Week: Renee Purdy (Willamette, Sr., OH, Eugene, OR) led the Bearcats to a pair of NWC wins by hitting .326 with 34 kills, 27 digs and 3 aces in the two matches. Honorable Mention: Sharon Barnett (George Fox, OH) had 47 kills in five matches last week (12 games), adding 48 digs as the Bruins went 4-1; Julie Lines (Pacific, OH) had 30 kills in two matches; Abby Jo Hornstein (Whitworth, OH) had 25 kills, 19 digs, 2 aces in two matches.

Oct. 4 - 10

Player of the Week: Beth Davis (George Fox, Sr., MB, Salem, OR) hit .328 with 25 kills, 10 blocks, 21 digs, an assist and an ace in two matches (both Bruin wins - including a big one at PLU), leading George Fox back into a tie for first place in the NWC. Honorable Mention: Anna Gradek (Linfield, MB) had 28 kills, six blocks, seven block assists, 36 digs in two matches. . . Barby Ream (Whitman, OH) had 27 kills and 37 digs in two Whitman wins last week. . .

Sept. 27-Oct. 3

Player of the Week: Cara Smith (PLU, So., OH, Lopez Island, WA) recorded 42 kills and hit .257 in three matches in her first full week back to the Lute line-up after injury. Honorable Mention: Anna Gradek (Linfield, MB) had 36 kills in three matches, averaging 3.27 kills per game. . . Lyndsey Wagstaff (Whitworth, OH) had 25 kills in two weekend matches. . . Barby Ream had 14 kills in Whitmans's win over UPS.

Sept. 20-26

Player of the week: Abby Jo Hornstein (Whitworth, So., OH, Spokane, WA) hit .541 last week with 21 kills, 1 error in 37attempts in two matches. She added 18 digs and two blocks. Honorable Mention: Renee Beauchene (PLU, So., MB) had 16 kills, five assists and seven blocks in two matches (both wins); Anna Gradek (Linfield, Jr., MB) had 31 kills, five assists, 17 digs, four blocks in two matches; Julie Lines (Pacific, Sr., OH) had 13 kills and 15 digs in loss to Whitman; Beth Davis (George Fox, Sr., MB) in three matches had 43 kills, hit .380, and added 27 digs, 19 blocks and 10 assist in three wins, leading the Bruins into first place.

Sept. 13-19

Player of the Week: Sharon Barnett (George Fox, Sr., OH, Salem, OR) moved into second place on the all-time George Fox list in kills and digs with team high 21 kills and 20 digs in the Bruins' win over UPS. Honorable Mention: Kelly Williams (Whitman, OH) had 29 kills and 20 digs in the Missionaries' two wins . . . Renee Beauchene (PLU, MB) had 20 kills and hit .350 in the Lutes' pair of victories. . . Anna Gradek (Linfield, MB) had match-high 11 kills, ten digs and 2.5 blocks in Linfield's loss at PLU.

Sept. 6-12

Player of the Week: Barby Ream (Whitman, Sr., MB, Seattle, WA) was named to the All-Tournament team at the Colorado Invitational. She had 30 kills and 32 digs in four matches. Honorable Mention: Erin Akre (Pacific, Jr.) had six aces in Pacific Volleyball Festival.
