1999-00 NWC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

Feb. 21-27

Player of the Week: Kelly Bradstreet (Linfield, Sr., F, Vancouver, Wash.) scored 40 points (while shooting 56% from the field) and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead the Wildcats to a pair of victories.
Honorable Mention: Margot Patula (Pacific, F) scored 36 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in a pair of losses; Tara Millet (PLU, F) scored 30 points and added 18 rebounds in two road wins; Katie Greller (George Fox, P) scored 24 points and grabbed 18 boards in two Bruin wins; Myra Slwooko (Whitworth, F) scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a pair of Pirate wins; Heather Ludwig (Willamette, P) scored 16 points and added 24 rebounds and six assists in two games.

Feb. 14-20

Player of the Week: Jamie Wakefield (Whitworth, Jr., F, Spokane, WA) led the Pirates to a pair of victories, including an upset of 1st-place George Fox, by scoring 32 points, grabbing 21 rebounds and adding eight steals and four assists.
Honorable Mention: Julie Vanni (UPS, F) scored 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in two games; Kelly Bradstreet (Linfield, F) scored 20 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in two games; Courtney Spellacy (L&C, G) scored 27 points in two games; Heather Ludwig (Willamette, F) scored 23 points and grabbed 27 boards in a pair of losses; Margot Patula (Pacific, P) scored 30 points and had 10 reobunds, six steals and a block in a win.

Feb 7-13

Player of the Week: Katie Greller (George Fox, Jr., P, Orange City, IA) wins for the fifth time this season after leading the Bruins to a 3-0 week and within striking distance of the NWC title. She scored 62 points (23/36 field goals - 63.9%), grabbed 22 rebounds and had five blocks in the three games.
Honorable Mention: Jamie Wakefield (Whitworth, F) scored 42 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in two games; Kelly Sorenson (Willamette, W) scored 36 points and added 12 rebounds in two games; Tara Millet (PLU, C) scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in two games; Margot Patula (Pacific, F) scored 37 points and added 20 rebounds and six blocks in two losses; Gwen Forrest (L&C, F) scored 23 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in two games.

Jan. 31-Feb. 6

Player of the Week: Margot Patula (Pacific, Jr., F, Reno, NV) scored 55 points and added 37 rebounds and seven steals to lead the Boxers to two wins in their three games last week.
Honorable Mention: Emily Stuenkel (Whitworth, G) scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Pirates to a pair of road wins; Katie Greller (George Fox, P) scored 16 points and had five rebounds in Bruins' win at PLU; Tyan Sanderson (Willamette, P) scored 37 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in two games; Heather Ludwig (Willamette, G) scored 25 points and added 19 rebounds and 10 assists; Kelly Bradstreet (Linfield, F) scored 24 points and had 19 rebounds, three blocks and five steals in two games; Yukki Terada (L&C, G) scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in two losses.

Jan. 24-30

Player of the Week: Star Olson (Whitworth, Sr., G, Spokane, WA) scored 55 points while leading the Pirates to two wins last week. She made 22/38 shots (58%) and added seven steals and two blocks.
Honorable Mention: Sarah Jensen (Linfield, P) scored 57 points and grabbed 29 rebounds in three Wildcat wins; Kelly Bradstreet (Linfield, F) scored 39 points and added 18 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 blocks; Katie Greller (George Fox, P) scored 37 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in two games; Kim Evanger (Whitman, F) scored 31 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in two losses; Yuuki Terada (L&C, G) scored 31 points in two losses.

Jan. 17-23

Player of the Week: Katie Greller (George Fox, Jr., P, Orange City, IA) wins the award for the second time in a row and fourth time this season by scoring 47 points and grabbing 23 rebounds while leading the Bruins to a 3-0 week.
Honorable Mention: Leah Moore (Linfield, G) scored 25 points and added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in two games; Margot Patula (Pacific, F) scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in Boxer's only game; Gwen Forrest (L&C, F) scored 35 points and grabbed 23 rebounds in three losses.

Jan. 10-16

Player of the Week: Katie Greller (George Fox, Jr., P, Orange City, IA) led the Bruins to a win over defending NWC champion PLU by scoring 20 points (.467 FG%) and sinking two key free throws with 1:11 to play.
Honorable Mention: Sarah Jensen (Linfield, C) scored 25 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as the Wildcats won two road games; Courtney Spellacy (L&C, G) scored 25 points and added 14 assists, seven rebounds and six steals in two games; Leslie Upham (Pacific, F) scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in two losses.

Jan. 3 - 9

Co-Players of the Week: Tara Millet (PLU, Sr., C, Sequim, WA) and Sarah Jensen (Linfield, Sr., C, Tualatin, OR) led their respective teams to the top of the NWC standings with undefeated weeks. Millet scored 41 points and grabbed 24 rebounds in three games while Jensen scored 29 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in two games. Honorable Mention: Re Gildner (L&C, F) scored 56 points (55.6 FG%) and grabbed 45 rebounds in three games; Jamie Wakefield (Whitworth, F) scored 54 points (52.2 FG%) and grabbed 30 rebounds in three games; Katie Greller (George Fox, P) scored 40 points (44.1 FG%) and grabbed 32 rebounds in three games; Angela Edwards (Pacific) scored 38 points and added nine steals in three games; Tati Gallardo (Whitman) scored 25 points in two games.

Dec. 24 - Jan. 2

Player of the Week: Star Olson (Whitworth, Sr., G, Spokane, WA) was named the MVP of the Menlo Classic after leading the Pirates to a pair of wins by scoring 41 points (15/26 FG, 3/4 3pt.). She added 5 rebounds and 7 steals.
Honorable Mention: Nicole Prazeau (George Fox, W) scored 24 points and added 11 rebounds in two games; Shannon O'Neill (Whitman) scored 24 points in two games at Menlo Classic.

Dec. 13 - 23

Player of the Week: Sunny Gulberg (Whitman, So., G, Snohomish, WA) scored 27 points (8/16 from the floor) and added five rebounds, three assists and two steals in Missionaries' win over Cascade.
Honorable Mention: Angela Edwards (Pacific) scored 21 points (8/13 from the floor) in Boxers' win over Warner Pacific; Myra Slwooko (Whitworth, F) scored 17 points and added six rebounds and three assists in Pirates' win at EOU.

Dec. 6-12

Player of the Week: Re Gildner (L&C, Fr., F, Astoria, OR) recorded three consecutive double-doubles as the Pioneers went 2-1. For the week she scored 51 points and 35 rebounds.
Honorable Mention: Sunny Gulberg (Whitman, G) scored 48 points and added 17 rebounds, 12 steals and 10 assists in three games; Tatia Gallardo (Whitman) scored 47 points and had 13 rebounds in the same three games; Katie Greller (George Fox, P) scored 32 points and added 20 rebounds in two games; Erin Peterson (UPS, F) scored 18 points (6/7 3-ptrs) and had five rebounds and three assists vs. Western Baptist.

Nov. 28 - Dec. 5

Player of the Week: Katie Greller (George Fox, Jr., P, Orange City, IA) was named the MVP of the Southern Oregon Tournament after leading the Bruins to the title by scoring 36 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in the two wins. Greller was also the winner last week.
Honorable Mention: Lucy Barker (PLU, G) scored 26 points in two games at the Wheaton Invitational; Margot Patula (Pacific, F) scored 41 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in three games, all Boxer wins; Kelly Bradstreet (Linfield, F) scored 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in win over Concordia; Kelly Sorenson (Willamette, G) scored 22 points (5/5 3pt) and added five steals and four assists in win over Concordia; Star Olson (Whitworth, G) scored 29 points in win at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Nov. 21-27

Player of the Week: Katie Greller (George Fox, Jr., P, Orange City, IA) averaged 22 points and 9.5 rebounds in two Bruin wins. She also added three assists and three steals while shooting .609 from the floor (14/23) and .889 from the free throw line (16/18).
Honorable Mention: Heather Ludwig (Willamette, F) averaged 12 points and 10.5 rebounds, while shooting .643 in two Bearcat wins; Courtney Spellacy (L&C, G) scored 17 points and added three assists and three steals in loss; Kelly Bradstreet (Linfield, F) scored 18 points and added five rebounds, two assists and two steals in loss.

Nov. 13-20

Player of the Week: Stacy Nielsen (Linfield, Jr., G, Portland, OR) led the Wildcats to a pair of season-opening wins, including an upset 1999 NCAA Division III runner-up St. Benedict (MN). She scored 22 points, making 9 of 13 shots (3 of 4 from 3-point territory), and had six assists, seven steals and four rebounds.
Honorable Mention: Margot Patula (Pacific) scored 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in two games; Gwen Forrest (L&C, F) scored 34 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had four steals in two games; Tati Gallardo (Whitman, G) scored 13 points, and added three blocks, three rebounds and two steals in season-opening loss.
