2000-01 NWC Women's Basketball Student-Athletes of the Week
Feb. 18
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Courtney Spellacy (Lewis & Clark, Sr., G, Shoreview, Minn.) scored 49 points and added 15 rebounds, seven assists and six steals in three games, including two wins.
Honorable Mention: Jamie Wakefield (Whitworth, F) scored 51 points and grabbed 28 rebounds in the final three games of her career; Tyan Sanderson (Willamette, F) scored 33 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in two games; Becky Franza (PLU, G) scored 27 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in two wins (she played 40 minutes in the win at Willamette).
Feb. 11
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Jessica Iserman (PLU, Jr., F, Federal Way, Wash.) led the Lutes to three wins by averaging over 17 points and 13 rebounds per game. She made 60% of her field goals and 80% of her free throws.
Honorable Mention: Katie Lacey (George Fox, P) scored 21 points and grabbled 10 boards in the Bruins' only game; Kelly Sorenson (Willamette, G) scored 37 points and added seven rebounds, seven steals and six assists in two wins; Jamie Wakefield (Whitworth, F) scored 37 points and grabbled 21 rebounds in two games; Margot Patula (Pacific, F) recorded 35 points and 16 rebounds in two games; Emily Stewart (Whitman, F) scored 31 points and added 10 rebounds in two losses; Shae Wright (Linfield, C) averaged 11 points and 3.7 rebounds in three games.
Feb. 4
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Tina Garrett (UPS, Sr., G, Kent, Wash.) scored 49 points, while making 8/14 three-pointers, and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Loggers went 1-1 last week.
Honorable Mention: Heather Ludwig (Willamette, F) scored 38 points and added 27 rebounds in two road wins; Jamie Wakefield (Whitworth, F) scored 44 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in two wins; Katie Lacey (George Fox, P) scored 35 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead the Bruins to a pair of road wins; Jessica Iserman (PLU, F) scored 41 points and grabbed 25 rebounds in a pair of games; Margot Patula (Pacific, F) tallied 32 points and 28 rebounds in a pair of road losses; Kim Evanger (Whitman, F) finished with 17 points and 28 rebounds in two games.
Jan. 28
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Kelly Sorenson (Willamette, Sr., G, Scappoose, Ore.) scored 45 points and added nine steals, eight assists and four rebounds while leading the Bearcats to a pair of wins and into third place in the NWC.
Honorable Mention: Tina Garrett (UPS, G) scored 42 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a pair of road wins; Katie Lacey (George Fox, P) scored 29 points and added 26 rebounds and 11 steals to lead the Bruins to two wins; Jamie Wakefield (Whitworth, F) totaled 43 points, 14 rebounds and eight steals in two losses; Leah Moore (Linfield, G) scored 26 points and had 11 assists and five steals in two games; Jessica Iserman (PLU, P) scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Lutes' lone game; Emily Stewart (Whitman, F) scored 28 points and added 10 boards in two losses.
Jan. 21
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Kelly Middlesworth (Whitworth, Sr., G, Kirkland, Wash.) led the Pirates to a 2-0 week by scoring 29 points, grabbing16 rebounds, dishing 12 assists and adding five steals. She recorded a triple-double (11 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) vs. Lewis & Clark.
Honorable Mention: Kelly Sorenson (Willamette, G) scored 52 points and added 13 rebounds, 13 steals and three assists in three games; Katie Lacey (George Fox, P) scored 45 points and grabbed 26 rebounds to lead the Bruins to a 3-0 week; Yuuki Terada (L&C, F) scored 28 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in two losses; Kim Evanger (Whitman, F) scored 23 points and added 21 rebounds and six steals in two games. Jessica Iserman (PLU, F) scored 52 points and grabbed 31 rebounds in three games.
Jan. 14
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Margot Patula (Pacific, Sr., F, Reno, Nev.) averaged 18 points and 11.7 rebounds while leading the Boxers to a pair of wins in three games last week. She also had 12 steals.
Honorable Mention: Kelly Sorenson (Willamette, G) scored 41 points, while making 7/11 three-pointers, in two Bearcat wins; Lucy Barker (PLU, G) scored 31 points and added 10 rebounds and eight assists in two Lute victories; Katie Lacey (George Fox, P) had her third double-double of the season by recording 16 points and 13 rebounds in the Bruins' only game; Erin Dahlgren (UPS, G) scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds in two Logger wins; Emily Stewart (Whitman, F) scored 45 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in three games.
Jan. 7
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Tina Garrett (UPS, Sr., G, Kent, Wash.) led the Loggers to a 4-1 record over the last 10 days by scoring 91 points (18.1 ppg) and adding 19 rebounds, 15 assists and 13 steals. She was named to the Grand Canyon All-Tournament team.
Honorable Mention: Jessica Iserman (PLU, F) led the Lutes to a 3-0 week, including the Lutheran Brotherhood tournament victory, by scoring 45 points and grabbing 29 rebounds; Katie Lacey (George Fox, P) scored 61 points, while shooting 66.7%, and grabbed 31 rebounds in four games; Margot Patula (Pacific, F) averaged 20.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in four games as the Boxers went 1-3; Jamie Wakefield (Whitworth, F) scored 54 points and added 14 rebounds, 13 assists and four blocks in three games; Emily Stewart (Whitman, F) scored 58 points and grabbed 23 rebounds in four games; Leah Moore (Linfield, G) scored 48 points in four games.
Dec. 26
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Heather Doud (George Fox, Jr., P, Corvallis, Ore.) scored 32 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and added six assists, while shooting .522 from the field at the Las Vegas Shootout. She scored a George Fox-high 26 points in the win over St. Mary's and scored the key go-ahead basket late in the game vs. DePauw.
Honorable Mention: Erica Ewart (Whitworth, G) scored 37 points while making 7/14 3-pointers as the Pirates split a pair of games against NAIA Division I foes.
Dec. 17
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Jamie Wakefield (Whitworth, Sr., F, Spokane, Wash.) scored 40 points in two games and was named to the Nebraska Wesleyan Classic All-Tournament team. During Sunday's game she scored a career-high 28 points and surpassed 1,000 points for her career.
Honorable Mention: Margot Patula (Pacific, F) scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Boxers to their first win of the season.
Dec. 10
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Heather Ludwig (Willamette, Sr., F, Seattle, WA) scored 50 points, grabbed 37 rebounds and added 12 assists, 11 steals and 2 blocks while shooting 55% from the floor in three games last week.
Honorable Mention: Nicole Prazeau (George Fox, W) scored 44 points and added 10 rebounds in two Bearcat wins, including a career-high 27 in the win over Cascade; Melody Mathews (Whitworth, F) scored a career-high 22 points on 8 of 9 shooting in the Pirates' win over Whitman; Stephanie Lien (Whitman, F) scored a career high 29 points in the overtime win at Evergreen and finished with 39 points for the week; Jessica Iserman (PLU, C/F) tallied 28 points and 30 rebounds in a pair of Lute road wins; Jamie Keatts (PLU, G) scored 38 points, while shooting 55%, as a substitute starter for the Lutes.
Dec. 3
Player of the Week: Katie Lacey (George Fox, Sr., P, Orange City, IA) picked up where she left off last season when she was the NWC Player of the Year. She scored 59 points and grabbed 28 rebounds to lead the undefeated Bruins to three wins last week, including a one-point victory over PLU.
Honorable Mention: Heather Ludwig (Willamette, F) scored 33 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead the Bearcats to a pair of wins . . . Yuuki Terada (L&C, F) scored 38 points and had 11 rebounds as the Pioneers went 1-1 . . . Sunny Gulberg (Whitman, G) scored 27 points to lead the Missionaries over EOU . . . Julie Vanni (UPS, P) scored 32 points and added six assists and five steals as the Loggers split a pair of games . . . Jessica Iserman (PLU, F) scored 27 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as the Lutes split a pair of road conference games. . . Ashlee Tucker (Linfield, C) scored 11 and added 8 boards in a loss to PLU.
