Justin won both of his singles matches in straight sets while losing only seven total games. He and doubles partner Joel Trudel also won twice as the Lutes went 2-0 during the week, including a 6-3 win at second-place Linfield.

Major: Economics

With two more decisive victories at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles, Solomon helped Whitman clinch a share of the NWC title with 9-0 and 8-1 victories over Pacific and Linfield, respectively. Solomon posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Linfield's No. 1, one of the best players in the NWC, and beat Pacific's No. 1 6-1, 6-0. Solomon raised his career record at Whitman to 126-68 (singles & doubles).

Michael Baumgartner

Albany, Ore./West Albany

Baumgartner won both of his matches in #1 singles action (6-3, 7-5 and 7-6 (7-3), 6-0) against Puget Sound and Lewis & Clark this weekend. He also was 2-0 in doubles play at the #3 (8-2) and #2 (9-0) positions as the Bearcats won both team matches.

Solomon, ranked No. 11 in the west region, won three of five matches at No. 1 singles, including a three-set victory over the No. 3 player in the region. His two losses were to the No. 2 and No. 5 players in the west region. He started the week with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Linfield's No. 1 as Whitman handed the Wildcats their first loss, and with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Pacific's No. 1. He also shared in two victories at No. 1 doubles, including a win that helped Whitman (No. 26) beat Pomona-Pitzer (No. 17).

Solomon ratcheted his game into high gear beating last spring's NWC Player of the Year from Pacific Lutheran 6-1, 6-4 and Willamette’s #1 6-1, 6-1. Solomon also shared in three victories at No. 1 doubles, including a 9-8 (7-4) thriller against Pacific Lutheran.

Mark Magdaong

Major: Business Marketing

Magdaong went 4-0 last week as Linfield knocked off Pacific Lutheran. He stretched his winning streak in singles to 6-0 and scored a big doubles victory at PLU, winning 8-3 over the Lutes’ doubles team, who were ranked No. 3 in the region, No. 12 in the nation and unbeaten in nine spring season matches.

Baumgartner went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles, as Willamette won two NWC matches to improve to 5-0 in the conference. He defeated PLU's top player 6-3, 6-3, and also defeated Lewis & Clark’s #1 6-0, 6-2. He teamed with Luke Lagattuta to defeat the #2 doubles teams for both opponents. Baumgartner and Lagattuta are 7-0 on the season, 5-0 in the NWC.

Anderson won both his #2 singles (6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1) and doubles (8-1 and 8-1) matches last week as the Wildcats went 2-0. He remained unbeaten (3-0) in both singles and doubles against NWC opposition this season.

Trudel had a great match against Whitman, defeating a nationally ranked opponent while losing only two games. He also teamed with Justin Peterson to win as the #1 doubles team. Joel finished his perfect day with singles and doubles wins over Whitworth opponents as well.
