Northwest Conference Swimmers of the Week

Feb. 1

NWC Women's Swimmer of the Week: Breanna Trygg (UPS, So., Eagan, Minn.) won the 50 Free (26.35) and was on the winning 200 Medley Relay on Friday, then won the 200 Free (2:00.06), 100 Back (1:00.94) and led off the winning 200 Medley Relay on Saturday.
Honorable Mention: Lindsey Robinson (PLU) won the 200 I.M. (2:19.86) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.64) and swam a leg on the winning 200 Medley Relay against Linfield; Alexis Jinbo-Doran (Whitman) finished second in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke against UPS and won the 400 IM (4:56.62) and 200 Breaststroke (2:34.99) against Caltech; Mandy Weeber (Linfield) won the 100 Back (1:06.35) and second in the 200 IM (2:20.12) against PLU; Eryn Tengan (Pacific) won the 500 Free (5:53.51) and 100 Back (1:06.80) vs. Mills.

NWC Men's Swimmers of the Week: Rhys Birky (Whitworth, So., Sweet Home, Ore.) won the 200 Free (1:47.12) against Caltech and also won the 50 Free (22.10), 100 Free (47.95) and anchored the winning 200 Medley Relay (1:39.10) against UPS.
Honorable Mention: Daniel Seetin (PLU) won the 1,000 Free (10:36.87) and 500 Free (5:07.98) in a win over Linfield; Criag Gonzales (Linfield) won the 200 IM (2:02.38) and finished second in the 100 Fly (55.02) against PLU; Arthur Jones (Whitman) won the 100 Back (57.64) against UPS and the 200 Free (1:57.08) and 200 Fly (2:12.37) against Caltech.

Jan. 25

Co-NWC Women's Swimmers of the Week: Rachel Fuller (PLU, Fr., Anchorage, Alaska) won the 100 (57.03), 200 (2:02.63) and 500 (5:39.25) Freestyle events in a dual meet win at Willamette; Alexis Knepp (Linfield, So., Monterrey, Calif.) won the 100 (56.81) and 200 (2:03.89) Freestyles and led off the winning 200 Free Relay (1:46.24) in a dual meet win over Willamette.

Co-NWC Men's Swimmers of the Week: Nathan Muti (Linfield, Jr., Milwaukie, Ore.) led the Wildcats to a dual meet victory by winning the 50 Free (23.09) and 100 Back (56.27) and leading off the winning 200 Free Relay (1:31.06). Tim Wagner (PLU, Fr., Longview, Wash.) led the Lutes past the Bearcats by winning the 200 (1:48.63) and 500 (4:56.66) Freestyles and swimming on the winning 800 Free Relay.

Jan. 18

NWC Women's Swimmer of the Week: Serena Fadel (Whitworth, Jr., Boise, Idaho) won the 200 Breaststroke in a Whitworth pool record time of 2:24.69 while also winning the 400 I.M. 4:39.60 and competing on the winning 400 Medley Relay (4:12.74) vs. Willamette.
Honorable Mention: Alexis Knepp (Linfield) won all four of her individual events in two dual meet victories - she won the 200 Free (2:04.66) and 100 Breaststroke (1:14.40) vs. L&C and the 200 I.M. (2:20.38) and 100 Breaststroke (1:14.55) vs. Pacific; Anne Van Gessell (L&C) won both the 50 Free (25.78) and 100 Free (56.73) against Linfield; Marya Hall (Pacific) won the 100 (57.76) and 200 (2:04.45) Freestyles at Linfield; Nora Feeney (Whitman) won the 1,000 Free (11:24.81) against Willamette and the 1,650 (19:32.33) and 500 (5:43.15) Freestyles against PLU; Amber Mazeika (PLU) won the 200 Back (2:29.57), placed second in the 1,650 (20:15.61) and finished third in the 200 Free (2:12.26) in a win at Whitman.

NWC Men's Swimmer of the Week: Cory Bergman (Whitworth, Jr., Bellingham, Wash.) led the Pirates to a win over Willamette by posting an NCAA provisional qualifying time while winning the 200 Breaststroke (2:07.66) and also winning the 200 Free (1:45.41) and anchoring the winning 400 Free Relay to an NWC-best time of 3:13.22.
Honorable Mention: Justin Lunday (PLU) won the 200 Free (1:54.49), 200 Back (2:09.02) and 200 Breaststroke (2:25.44) at Whitman; Craig Gonzales (Linfield) won the 200 Free (1:51.00) and 100 Back (57.69) against L&C; Garth Brand (Whitman) won the 1,000 (10:58.80) and 500 (5:15.33) Freestyles against Willamette.

Dec. 7

Women's Swimmer of the Week: Breanna Trygg (UPS, So., Eagan, Minn.) won the 100 Backstroke in an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 58.25 at the CWU Invitational, defeating several NCAA Division I and II swimmers. She also placed third in the 200 Back with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:08.03.
Honorable Mention: Rachel Fuller (PLU) was the individual high point scorer at the Northwest Invitational after winning the 50 (25.45) and 100 (55.88) Freestyles and placing 2nd in the 100 Back (1:04.67); Alexis Jinbo-Doran (Whitman) won the 200 Breaststroke (2:29.81, breaking her own school record), finished second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:10.32) and was third in the 200 I.M. (2:19.49) at the Northwest Invitational. She also was part of the winning 800 Free Relay; Theresa Likarish (L&C) won the 100 Backstroke (1:03.17) and finished third in the 200 Free (2:03.85) at the NW Invite, while also competing on the winning 200 Free Relay; Marissa Haruta (Linfield) won the 400 I.M. (4:56.69) and finished fifth in the 200 Breaststroke (2:36.98) at the NW Invite.

Men's Swimmer of the Week: Kevin Wang (Whitworth, Sr., Redmond, Wash.) won both the 200 I.M. (1:54.39) and 400 I.M. (4:04.93) at the CWU Invite. He added second place finishes in the 200 (1:43.42), 500 (4:39.34) and 1,650 (16:11.54) Freestyles.
Honorable Mention: Tim Wagner (PLU) was the high point winner at the Northwest Invitational after winning the 200 Free (1:48.58), 500 Free (4:53.98) and 1,650 Free (17:11.23); Greg Jackson (Linfield) won the 200 I.M. (2:04.84) and placed 5th in the 100 Back (58.08) at the NW Invite; Matt Warren (Whitman) placed second in the 400 I.M. (4:36.01), third in the 100 Back (57.81) and fourth in the 200 Back (2:05.87).

Nov. 23

NWC Men's Swimmer of the Week: Travis Parker (Whitworth, Fr., Walla Walla, Wash.) won the 100 Fly (51.66) in NCAA provisional qualifying time and the 50 Free (21.97) in an NWC-best mark and swam the butterfly leg on Whitworth's winning 200 Medley Relay (1:38.80), which set an NWC-best time, while leading the Pirates to a win over NCAA Division II Central Washington.
Honorable Mention: Kyle Thatcher (PLU) finished second in the 50 Free (22.57), won the 100 Free (48.18) and anchored the winning 4x100 Free Relay (3:22.72) to lead the Lutes past the Loggers.

NWC Women's Swimmer of the Week: Serena Fadel (Whitworth, Jr., Boise, Idaho) won three individual events to lead the Pirates past Central Washington. She won the 400 IM (4:38.09) and 100 Breaststroke (1:08.13) in NCAA provisional qualifying times and also won the 1,000 Freestyle (11:13.48).
Honorable Mention: Alex Borgen (UPS) won the 1,000 Free (10:49.27) with an NWC-best time and led off the winning 4x100 Free Relay (3:51.47) in the win over PLU; Rachel Fuller (PLU) won the 50 (25.81) and 100 Free (55.92) vs. UPS; Alison Curtis (Pacific) won the 200 IM (2:28.46) and 100 Breaststroke (1:16.25) against L&C; Tara Ganser (L&C) won the 50 Free (26.83) and finished second in the 500 Free (6:08.78), while anchoring the winning 200 Medley Relay (1:58.97).

Nov. 16

NWC Men's Swimmer of the Week: Loren Kilgore (Whitworth, So., Gresham, Ore.) won three individual events against Whitman. He won the 1,650 Free with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark (16:26.54), he won the 200 I.M. in an NWC-best 1:58.48 and his winning time in the 500 Free (4:47.84) is the second fastest time of the season in the NWC this year.
Honorable Mention: Nathan Muti (Linfield) won the 200 meter I.M. (2:19.49) and 200 meter Backstroke (2:15.30) and was on the winning 400 meter Free Relay (3:50.00) at UPS; Daniel Seetin (PLU) won the 200 I.M. (2:11.43) and 200 Breaststroke (2:28.36) vs. L&C.

NWC Women's Swimmer of the Week: Katie Klein (Whitworth, Fr., McMinnville, Ore.) won the 50 Free (24.59) and 100 Free (53.76), both in provisional NCAA Qualifying times. She also anchored Whitworth's winning 400 Medley Relay (4:09.92).
Honorable Mention: Marya Hall (Pacific) won the 1,000 Free (11:19.63 - 2nd best NWC) and 500 Free (5:32.44) and anchored the winning 400 Free Relay vs. Willamette and CSUH; Rachel Fuller (PLU) won the 50 Free (26.08), finished second in the 100 Free (56.15) vs. L&C and anchored the winning 400 Medley Relay (4:20.07); Katie Knepp (Linfield) won the 200 (2:05.84) and 500 (5:40.72) and swam on the winning 400 Medley Relay (4:20.17) vs. CSUH and also finished third in both the 200 meter I.M. (2:41.38) and 200 meter Back (2:57.44) at UPS.

Nov. 9

NWC Men's Swimmer of the Week: Greg Jackson (Linfield, Sr., Sagle, Idaho) won the 100 Back against Whitworth (56.04) and the 200 I.M. (2:04.86) and 100 Freestyle (50.93) against Whitman. He also swam on the winning 200 Free Relay against Whitworth and 400 Medley Relay against Whitman.
Honorable Mention: Keith Jarrett (Whitman) won the 50 Free (23.30), 100 Butterfly (58.00) and 100 Breaststroke (1:08.00) against Lewis & Clark; Eric Swinn (Willamette) won the 200 Freestyle and 200 Backstroke against UPS (times unavailable).

NWC Women's Swimmer of the Week: Alexis Jinbo-Doran (Whitman, Jr., Honolulu, Hawaii) won the 400 I.M. (4:58.06) and 100 Breaststoke (1:10.90) at Lewis & Clark and won the 100 Freestyle (59.24) at Linfield. She also was part of the winning 200 Medley Relay at L&C.
Honorable Mention: Holly Mulvenon (PLU) won the 50 Free (27.15) and 100 Free (59.69) against Pacific; Mandy Weeber (Linfield) won the 200 I.M. (2:19.93) and 200 Back (2:20.18) vs. Whitman; Nadia Markovchick (Willamette) won the 100 Free against UPS (time unavailable).
