Wilson & Garcia Named NWC Softball Student-Athletes of the Week

The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Softball for the week of April 14th through April 20th.

Softball- Pitcher - Student-Athlete of the Week

Wilson earned two complete game wins inside the circle against third-ranked Linfield, pushing the Lutes into sole possession of first place in the NWC standings. Wilson struck out 17 in 14 innings of work, tossing a 1-0 complete game shutout to set the tone for the series on Saturday. Wilson allowed just two walks over the weekend and limited a dangerous Linfield squad to just 13 hits over her two starts.

Paola Garcia I OF I Pacific Lutheran | SR | Downey, Calif. | Warren

Garcia hit .500 at the plate with a 1.000 slugging percentage as PLU won three of four against #3 Linfield to seize sole possession of first place in the NWC standings. Garcia finished the weekend with six hits in 12 at-bats, belting two home runs with eight RBIs and six runs scored. Garcia was remarkably consistent during the series, extending her hit streak to 10 games with two multi-hit games, including a two home run and five-RBI effort in Sunday's 6-4 win to open the day.
