The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Men’s Track & Field for the week of April 7th through April 13th.
Men’s Track - Student-Athlete of the Week
Carson Tapia I Sprints I George Fox | FR | Colorado Springs, Colo. | Vista Ridge
Tapia was the highest finishing Division III athlete in every event he raced in at the John Knight Twilight. The freshman won the 200m with a time of 21.66, before finishing in third in the 100m with a mark of 10.77. Tapia rounded out his day by helping his relay team place second in the 4x100m, trailing only Western Oregon with a time of 42.11, the second-fastest time in the conference this season. Tapia currently sits as the conference leader in both the 100m and 200m.
Men’s Field - Student-Athlete of the Week
Cody Wheeler I Throws | Whitworth | JR | Hockinson, Wash. | Hockinson
Wheeler, the 2024 NCAA Division III champion in the javelin, won the javelin on Friday at the Jeff Rahn Classic with a season-best throw of 217'-0", which leads the NWC and is the fifth-best throw in DIII this season.
