Saelens had a career-high 14 strikeouts in a complete game win at Puget Sound on Saturday, holding the Loggers to just 4 hits and 2 runs over 9 innings.
Baseball- Player - Student-Athlete of the Week
Spencer Shipman I SS I Whitworth | SR | Newman Lake, Wash. | West Valley
Shipman had another huge week for the Pirates. He went 7 for 16 (.438) with eight RBIs and five runs scored to lead Whitworth to a 4-0 record against Linfield and Lewis & Clark. In the series sweep of the Wildcats, Shipman hit two home runs to give him 10 for the season in only 21 games played. In conference-only stats, Spencer leads the NWC in batting average, home runs, slugging average and RBIs by a significant margin.
