The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Softball for the week of February 24th through March 2nd.
Softball- Pitcher - Student-Athlete of the Week
Tyler McNeley I P I Linfield | JR | Lakeview, Ore. | Lakeview
McNeley pitched 15 innings in four games over the weekend, earning two complete-game wins, and added a one-inning save to help Linfield sweep No. 4 Redlands and Pomona-Pitzer on the road. The junior allowed eight hits while striking out six over seven innings of the shutout in a 6-0 win. She sealed a 6-4 win in game two on Saturday, earning the save. On Sunday, she allowed one run over seven innings, striking out five and allowing her first and only extra-base hit of the season, a double, in an 11-1 win over Pomona-Pitzer.
Softball- Player - Student-Athlete of the Week
Cydney Hess I INF I Linfield | SR | West Linn, Ore. | West Linn
Hess went 5-12 (.416) at the plate over the weekend, hitting three home runs, and driving in nine. She struck out just once and walked three times as the Wildcats swept both No. 4 Redlands and Pomona-Pitzer in California. The senior infielder added a double and a steal on the base paths. In her only at-bat in the fourth game of the weekend (walked three times), Hess went deep for a two-run home run.
