Sam Simril I QB I Lewis & Clark | GR | Portland, Ore. | Missouri S&T (NCAA DII)
Simril threw for a career-high 437 yards and recorded all five of his touchdown passes in the final 20 minutes of regulation and overtime to lead Lewis & Clark to a 43-41 triple-overtime win over Whitworth. With the River Otters trailing 28-7, Simril threw touchdown passes on the team's final four drives and their second drive of overtime. He connected with junior tight end Dante Washington for the game-winning, two-point conversion in triple overtime. His 437 passing yards are the eighth-most in a single-game in program history. The win marked Lewis & Clark's first win at the Pine Bowl since 1996 and their first win over a defending NWC Champion since 2000.
Football - Defense - Student-Athlete of the Week
Hudson Reink I LB I Linfield | JR | West Linn, Ore. | West Linn
Reink led all defenders with 11 total tackles in a 41-0 shutout win over Pacific Lutheran on Saturday. The junior linebacker made two tackles for loss, one sack for a loss of seven yards, one pass break up, and one QB hurry in the game. It's just the second shutout by any team in conference play this season, Reink's four solo tackles and tackles for loss were a huge reason why the Lutes were held to just -2 yards rushing as a team.
