The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Swimming for the week of January 13th through January 20th.
Women’s Swimming - Student-Athlete of the Week
Paige Dangleis I Whitworth | FR | Hockinson, Wash. | Hockinson
Dangleis showed speed and versatility while winning all six of her races in a pair of Northwest Conference dual meets over the weekend. At Linfield on Friday night, she led off the winning 200-yard medley relay that posted a time of 1:50.92. She went on to win both the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.64) and 100-yard freestyle (54.61) to lead the Pirates to a 135-70 victory over the Wildcats. At Willamette on Saturday, Dangleis led off the winning 400-yard medley relay (4:12.65). She went on to win the 50-yard freestyle in 25.55 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:14.76 to lead Whitworth past the Bearcats 152-52.
Men’s Swimming - Student-Athlete of the Week
Nathanael Van Liew I Whitworth | SO | Puyallup, Wash. | Rogers
Van Liew won all three of his individual events and two relays in Whitworth's dual meet victories this weekend. At Linfield on Friday night Van Liew anchored the Pirate A relay with a winning time of 1:34.18 in the 200-yard medley relay. He went on to win the 50-yard freestyle in 21.24 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.42 to lead Whitworth to a 123-81 victory over the Wildcats. On Saturday at Willamette, he anchored the B 400 medley relay to a runner-up finish of 3:39.12 behind Whitworth's A relay. He won the 50 freestyle in 21.51 and then anchored the A 400 free relay to a victory in 3:11.83. The Pirates defeated the Bearcats 154-45.
