Bailey, Erickson, & Johannsen Named NWC Football Student-Athletes of the Week

The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Football for the week of September 16th through September 22nd.

Football - Offense - Student-Athlete of the Week
Darius Bailey I WR I Puget Sound | SO | Tacoma, Wash. | Lincoln

Bailey had yet another superb weekend for the Loggers. He had 10 receptions for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns, and currently leads the conference in receiving yards, touchdowns, and yards/game. To go along with being the top receiver in the conference after this weekend, he is also No. 2 in all of DIII in receiving touchdowns and No. 3 in the nation in receiving yards.

Football - Defense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Jacob Erickson I DE | George Fox | SR | Snohomish, Wash. | Glacier Peak

Erickson had one of the best games in George Fox football history, recording a program-record five sacks in a dominant effort for the Bruins against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The defensive end led the team with a career-high 11 tackles, six of which were for a loss. Erickson was a force to be reckoned with all day, finishing with one forced fumble and three QB hurries to go along with his program-record number of sacks. The senior recorded six tackles and three sacks in the fourth quarter alone; his sacks mark is the most in NCAA Division III this season and the most by a Northwest Conference player in over 20 years.

Football - Special Teams - Student-Athlete of the Week
Cade Johannsen I P/K  I Linfield | SO | Eugene, Ore. | North Eugene

Johannsen continues to lead the Northwest Conference in punting, averaging 47.5 yards per punt on 10 attempts (No.1 in Division III), with four traveling over 50-yards and six finishing inside the 20-yard line. In a 28-13 win over Chapman, Johannsen booted six punts, for 274 total yards (45.7 average), with a long of 51. Half of his punts on Saturday finished inside the 20-yard line, and none resulted in touchbacks.
