The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Cross Country for the week of August 25th through September 2nd.
Women’s Cross Country - Student-Athlete of the Week
Malia Heien I Lewis & Clark | SR | Denver, Colo. | Northfield
Heien finished first among NCAA DIII runners and 14th overall at the Lewis & Clark Opener. In a loaded field of four NCAA DI teams and one nationally-ranked NCAA DIII side, Heien crossed the line behind 13 NCAA DI runners and nearly a full minute ahead of the next Northwest Conference runner (49.63 seconds). The Pioneers senior recorded a time of 18:35.92.
Men’s Cross Country - Student-Athlete of the Week
Cian Monaghan I Puget Sound | SR | Puyallup, Wash. | Puyallup
Monaghan ran away with the Puget Sound Invite this weekend, winning the men's 5k with a time of 15:20.2. He finished 26 seconds ahead of the next runner, and helped the Puget Sound men's cross country team win the meet.
