Swenson & Piazza Named NWC Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week

The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Baseball for the week of April 23rd through April 28th.

Baseball- Pitcher - Student-Athlete of the Week

Swenson made easy work of Puget Sound in the back-half of Saturday's doubleheader as the sophomore led the Wildcats to victory, pitching a full nine innings. He totaled 15 strikeouts while only allowing five hits, no walks and one run that went unearned. Swenson improved his record to 6-3 on the season as he makes a push for the Pitcher of the Year award.

Luke Piazza I 1B I Willamette | SR | Simi Valley, Calif. | Royal

Piazza helped the Bearcats to a series win against Lewis & Clark by recording 8 hits in 11 at-bats, with six RBIs, and two runs scored.  After losing game one and his team in need of a victory, Piazza's tripled and scored in the first inning to get Willamette on the scoreboard and followed with an RBI single in the second inning and another single in the third to drive in two more runs and give the Bearcats a 9-0 lead.  For the game, he had three hits, walked twice, and drove in four runs.  In the deciding game, a 5-4 win for Willamette, Piazza's single in the fifth inning gave the Bearcats back the lead after the Pioneers had tied the game in the top of the inning.
