WALLA WALLA Wash.– The top-seeded Whitman Blues men’s tennis squad secured the 2025 Northwest Conference Championship title, automatically qualifying them for a trip to the NCAA Division III Tennis Championships. The match took place on Whitman’s home court in Walla Walla, Washington on Sunday, April 20th– the first time since 2019 the Whitman men’s squad has earned the regular season title and hosting rights for the NWC Tournament.

Whitman earned the first point in doubles play after a dominant performance by the Blues No. 1 and No. 3 courts. On court No. 1, senior Noah Baker and sophomore Alexander Stage won the match 6-4, while on court No. 3 junior Cameron Yang and senior Lucas Huang secured the point with a 6-3 win.

In singles play, the Blues continued to extend their lead after some hard-earned matches. Lucas Huang claimed the first singles point with a straight-set win on court No. 3, while the second point was claimed on the No. 1 court  by Alexander Stage over George Fox opponent Lars Schmassmann.

Zach Moore posted the lone point for the Bruins, winning an exciting three set match on court two. Soon after, Whitman’s Artem Manov on court No. 4 rallied in a second tiebreaker to earn the Blues the fourth and final point to claim the NWC Championship title.

The Blues will continue their season and represent the Northwest Conference at the NCAA Division III Tennis Championships, held in Claremont, California during May 19-26. Full schedule details can be found on the NCAA website.
