Davis & Dahir Named NWC Softball Student-Athletes of the Week

The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Softball for the week of March 11th through March 17th.

Softball- Pitcher - Student-Athlete of the Week
Kenna Davis I Pitcher I Willamette | SR | Alameda, Calif. | Alameda

Davis earned three wins over the weekend as Willamette won 3 of 4 from the Pirates. In the opening game on Friday, the senior pitched a complete-game shutout, scattering seven hits and striking out six. On Saturday, Davis didn't allow her first hit until the fifth inning and only allowed two hits for the game. She earned her third win of the weekend on Sunday, giving up only three hits and striking out six in Willamette's 11-1, 5-inning win over Whitworth. For the series, Davis pitched 18.2 innings, giving up only 2 runs (0.96 ERA) and 13 hits while striking out 14. 

Softball- Player - Student-Athlete of the Week
Makena Dahir I CF/DP I Lewis & Clark | SO | Sparks, Nev. | Spanish Springs

Dahir went 11-19 with eight runs scored, eight RBI and five extra-base hits (two doubles, one triple and two home runs) to lead Lewis & Clark to a 6-0 week. The sophomore center fielder hit .579 on the week with a .619 on-base percentage and a 1.105 slugging percentage. Dahir hit safely in all six games and posted four multiple-hit games. She opened the week by finishing a triple shy of the cycle in an 11-1 win over Warner Pacific. Over the weekend, Dahir went 7-12 with five runs and four RBI in a four-game sweep of Pacific. She blasted a three-run homer in game three and posted two hits in each of the first three games of the series. Dahir leads the NWC with a .553 batting average and sits second with her 1.000 slugging percentage.
