Takamiya, Toole, & Fletcher Named NWC Golf Student-Athletes of the Week

The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Golf for the week of March 4th through March 10th.

Women’s Golf -  Co-Student-Athletes of the Week
Alison Takamiya I George Fox | SR | Honolulu, Hawai'i | Punahou
Makensie Toole I George Fox | SR | Newcastle, NSW, Australia | Belmont Christian

Toole and Takamiya had the best overall two player effort in GFU history, each shooting 135 (-7) to finish as co-medalists at the Westbrook Invitational in Arizona, each bolstered by an incredible final round.  

Takamiya had a record-tying day, scoring a birdie and eight pars in the front nine before an otherworldly five straight birdies to finish the day. with a score of 66 (-5) — tied for the lowest single-round in program history. 

Toole meanwhile had four birdies on the back nine of her final round to help the Bruins win the event and take down a host of top 20 teams, including No. 1 Emory.

Men’s Golf - Student-Athlete of the Week
Truman Fletcher I George Fox | JR | Portland, Ore. | Grant

Fletcher put together a solid performance at the Pacific Invitational, finishing the tournament as a co-medalist. The junior had two days with a score of 70 (-1), ending him in a tie for first place with Rocky Mountain College's Kristjan Burkelca. Fletcher finished as the lowest-scoring NWC competitor in a field with Willamette, Pacific, Puget Sound, and the Lewis & Clark B Team.
