Spokane, Wash.– The championship final is set for the 2025 Northwest Conference Volleyball Tournament; the Pacific Lutheran Lutes and the Whitworth Pirates will compete for the title on Saturday, November 15th at 6:00 p.m. PST in Spokane, Washington.
In a thrilling 5-set match, #3 seed Pacific Lutheran overcame #2 seeded Puget Sound to claim their spot in the championship match with a final score of 3-2. Pacific Lutheran took the first set with a score of 26-24, while Puget Sound took both second and third sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-23. The Lutes kept the game running with a win in the fourth set (25-17), and maintained their momentum in order to win the final set with a score of 15-12.
Leading the offense for the Lutes was Alexis Eggert with 19 kills, 4 digs; and Shaela Allen-Greggs with 16 kills, 3 digs. Solid in defense was Bailey Johnson with 17 digs and one ace, and Savanna Colliado with 12 digs. Ayre Takamoto worked both ends of the court with 41 assists and 20 digs on the evening. The Loggers were led by Maddie Badger and Erin Fagan on offense with 12 kills a piece– while Akira Anderson posted 20 digs and 2 aces, and Randi Rush putting up 31 assists and 20 digs.
In the second semi-final match of the evening, top-seeded Whitworth pushed ahead of the #4 seeded Willamette Bearcats to secure the remaining spot of the NWC Championship match with a four set score of 3-1. Whitworth took the first two sets in tight competition with scores of 26-24 and 29-27, while Willamette posted a third set win of 25-23 to take it to the fourth set. In dominant fashion, the Pirates claimed the win with a final score of 25-6.
Standout individual performances from the Pirates included Lauren Kremer with 14 kills and 3 aces, Josephine Thompson with 21 assists and 10 digs, and Alyssa Baird with 11 digs. Individual efforts from the Bearcats included Lexie Scott with 12 kills, Leina Chu with 31 assists and one ace, and Dream Takemoto with 19 digs.
Pacific Lutheran and Whitworth will face off in the NWC Championship Match Saturday, November 15th at 6:00pm. The winner will receive an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
