The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Football for the week of September 30th through October 6th.
Football - Offense - Student-Athlete of the Week
Luis Salgado I RB I Whitworth | SR | Pasco, Wash. | Kamiakin
Salgado helped lead Whitworth to a 28-14 win at Pacific by running for 116 yards on 21 carries. He scored the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter and converted a two-point conversion to give the Pirates a 14-7 lead. He added the game-clinching touchdown in the fourth quarter with 4:42 left in the game.
Football - Defense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Cole Becker I DE | Pacific Lutheran | JR | Lake Stevens, Wash. | Lake Stevens
Becker had eight tackles, three sacks, including a sack fumble that he recovered in a homecoming win over Willamette. Becker was part of a defensive unit that generated four turnovers and limited the Bearcats to just 13 yards in the fourth quarter.
Football - Special Teams - Student-Athlete of the Week
Reid Gray I CB I Linfield | JR | Damascus, Ore. | Adrienne C. Nelson
Gray returned a kickoff 94-yards to the house in Linfield's 35-17 win over George Fox. The junior averaged 58 return yards on kickoffs and 9.5 yards on punts, his 94-yard scamper is the team's longest since 2006, and eighth-longest in program history. His return early in the fourth quarter extended the Wildcat's lead to two-scores, helping Linfield pull away on the road.
