The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Swimming for the week of January 14th through January 21st.
Women’s Swimming - Student-Athlete of the Week
Megan Bonikowsky I Whitworth | F | Nelson, B.C. | LV Rogers Secondary
Bonikowsky won all four of her individual events over the weekend, demonstrating great versatility. In Whitworth's 157-42 win over Lewis & Clark, she won the 200 freestyle (2:01.71) and the 200 breaststroke (2:33.07). She also swam the breaststroke leg on the winning 400 medley relay (4:07.17). In the 144-32 win over Pacific, Bonikowsky again won the 200 free (2:01.32) and the 100 freestyle (55.88). She also swam breaststroke on the winning 200 medley relay (1:52.04).
Men’s Swimming - Student-Athlete of the Week
John Leeds I Whitman | SR | Austin, Texas | Westlake HS
Leeds won five races over two dominant team wins by the Blues over Pacific and Lewis & Clark. Against Pacific Leeds won a pair of races, first the 50 free (22.08) then the 100 free (48.23). Against Lewis & Clark, he won a trio of races, joining Brodie Salzbrener, Ian McClelland and Keenan Tiddle with a meet-opening win in the 200 free relay. He later took top honors in the 200 free (1:46.64) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.36).
