Seats & Kelley Named NWC Softball Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Softball for the week of April 29th through May 8th.

Softball - Position - Student-Athlete of the Week
Claire Seats I OF I Linfield | JR | Seattle, Wash.  I Bellevue

Junior Claire Seats' effort on offense helped Linfield to finish the regular season with a perfect 40-0 record and a four-game series sweep of Willamette. Seats hit .385 or better in all four games and totaled seven hits along with seven RBIs. She added two home runs, seven runs scored and two doubles. The Seattle Wash., native ranks among the Northwest Conference leaders in batting average (.426), hits (52) and RBIs (54). She sits on top of the NWC in total home runs with 12.

Senior Tayah Kelley totaled nine and two-thirds innings over three games against Willamette as the Wildcats swept the Bearcats over the four-game series. In her first outing, Kelley totaled eight strikeouts in a complete game shutout and similarly in her second start, she again racked up eight punchouts and didn't give up a run. She then closed the door on the Bearcats with a save after pitching the final two-thirds of an inning in the series finale. The Myrtle Creek, Ore., native leads the NWC in ERA (0.99), wins (24), complete games (17), innings pitched (128), saves (4) and strikeouts (201). The 'Cats closed the regular season at 40-0 and finished as the only undefeated team in Division lll.
