Phinney & Franklin Named NWC Baseball Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Baseball for the week of April 1st through April 8th.

 

Baseball- Position - Student-Athlete of the Week
Brody Phinney I INF I Pacific Lutheran | SO | Olympia, Wash.  I Olympia

The sophomore went 10-19 in four games, helping the Lutes to a 3-1 record on the week. Phinney's week consisted of a 4-6 day on Tuesday at Puget Sound where he drove in seven runs; thanks to a grand slam to complete an 11-run seventh inning to erase a six-run deficit. The starting shortstop hit three doubles and two home runs on the week.

 

Baseball - Pitcher - Student-Athlete of the Week
Davis Franklin I P I Puget Sound | JR | Sammamish, Wash. | Bellevue Christian

Franklin picked up his third win of the season with a complete 9.0 inning game on the mound, giving up just one run on five total hits and striking out 12 batters, on the offensive side Franklin led the team with three hits off of four at bats in the 2-1 win of the Whitman series. Earlier in the week, Franklin hit for 3-of-5 adding two RBIs and a run against Pacific Lutheran.
