2024 NWC Spring Classic Preview

Hillsboro, Ore. - The Northwest Conference men’s and women’s golf teams will face off on April 7-8th at the NWC Spring Classic, hosted by Pacific Lutheran University, at the Home Course in DuPont, Washington.

 

Women
The nationally ranked George Fox Bruins claimed the NWC Fall Classic title with a team score of 591 to rank them first in the conference standings. The Bruins edged out second-ranked Whitworth by 28 strokes, finishing the tournament with a team score of 619. Whitman took third with a team score of 633. 

Pacific (Ore.) finished fourth at the Fall Classic with a score of 661, followed by Pacific Lutheran (665), Puget Sound (733), and Linfield (736).

Liana  Brown of George Fox claimed the individual title with a score of 70+75=145, ahead of teammates Makensie Toole at 146 and Alison Takamiya at 147. Cindy Luo of Whitman finished fourth with a final score of 148 and Whitworth’s Stella Fergin finished fifth with a score of 151. 

Abby Matelski of Pacific Lutheran and Ainsley Carter of George Fox tied for sixth with scores of 153. Maddie Hahn of Whitworth finished eighth at 154. Pacific’s Bead Boonta recorded a score of 155 for ninth while Julia Diaz of Whitworth rounded out the top ten with a score of 157. 

 

Men
Whitman claimed the 2023 NWC Fall Classic title with a team score of 567 to rank first in the conference standings heading into the spring. Whitworth finished close behind with a team score of 568 points. Linfield took third with a team score of 575.

George Fox finished fourth with a team score of 579, followed by Willamette (586), Pacific Lutheran (596), Pacific (600), Puget Sound (610), and Lewis & Clark (648). 

Mason Remington of Whitman claimed the individual title with a score of 71+64=135. Cade Streeter of Puget Sound and Jacob Smissen of Linfield tied for second at 138. Truman Fletcher of George Fox finished fourth with a final score of 139, just ahead of Matthew Durkin of Whitworth and Brenden Borch of George Fox who tied at 140. 

Jacob Rawley of Whitworth and Drury Brock of Pacific tied for seventh at 141. Oliver Smith of Willamette and Sam Pauly of Whitworth rounded out the top ten in a tie for ninth at 142.
