Softball - Position - Student-Athlete of the Week
Brynn Nelson I 2B I Linfield | JR | Bonney Lake, Wash. I Bonney Lake
Junior Brynn Nelson's efforts in the batter's box helped Linfield to a four-game series sweep of Pacific this past weekend. Nelson paced the offense with a .583 batting average, seven hits with at least one hit coming in every game and drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning in the series finale. She also poured in two runs, two doubles, six RBIs and finished the weekend with a 1.000 slugging percentage. The Bonney Lake, Wash., native leads the Northwest Conference in batting average (.550), hits (44) and OPS (1.465). Nelson also ranks among the leaders in home runs (6), RBIs (30) and doubles (7). Linfield continues to add to its best start in program history after moving to 28-0 after the weekend.
Softball - Pitcher - Student-Athlete of the Week
Tayah Kelley I P I Linfield | SR | Myrtle Creek, Ore. | South Umpqua
Senior Tayah Kelley earned three wins in 14 innings pitched as Linfield swept the four-game series against Pacific this last weekend. In two starts, Kelley hurled two complete games including a complete game shutout, struck out 25 batters and gave up only one earned run. Over three appearances, Kelley ended the weekend with a 0.50 ERA. The Myrtle Creek, Ore., native leads the Northwest Conference in ERA (0.92), wins (18), complete games (13), innings pitched (91.1) and strikeouts (135). Linfield continues to add to its best start in program history after moving to 28-0 after the weekend.
