Taylor & Kelley Named NWC Softball Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Softball for the week of February 26th through March 4th.

 

Softball - Position - Student-Athlete of the Week
Tinley Taylor I OF I George Fox | FR | Yakima, Wash. I East Valley

Over the weekend, Tinley Taylor had a standout performance, achieving several career firsts. In the first game, she hit her first career home run—a grand slam—leading the Bruins to a 5-1 victory over Southwestern. In the subsequent game, she knocked in three runs and scored twice, contributing to a 9-3 win over Southwestern.

On Saturday, Taylor continued to impress with four RBIs, including a home run and a double, along with a walk, in seven at-bats. She maintained her momentum on the final day, adding three more RBIs on four hits, including a double, and a walk.

Overall, Taylor's weekend totals were impressive: 13 RBIs, 10 hits, five walks, and six runs scored.


Softball - Pitcher - Student-Athlete of the Week
Tayah Kelley I P I Linfield | SR | Myrtle Creek, Ore. | South Umpqua

Senior Tayah Kelley (3-0) pitched 12 total innings in Linfield's trip to the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. The Wildcats went a perfect 4-0 to win the tournament with Kelley appearing in three games. Against Belhaven and Virginia Wesleyan, Kelley pitched a complete game (5 innings on both occasions) striking out six batters in both contests and only surrendering four hits and one earned run between the two games. In two innings of work against Transylvania, the Myrtle Creek, Ore., native struck out four batters. Linfield leads the Northwest Conference with a team 1.59 ERA with Kelley also topping the NWC with a 0.58 ERA.
