Baker & Anderson Named NWC Basketball Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Basketball for the week of January 29th through February 5th.

 

Women’s Basketball- Student-Athlete of the Week
Korin Baker I F I Whitman | SR | Waucanda, Wash. | Curlew

Baker helped Whitman to a 2-0 week with wins against Whitworth and Lewis & Clark…against Whitworth she poured in a career-high 31 points to go along with 11 rebounds, both stats being game highs as well…the 31 points was the most this week among NWC games and tied for the highest this season in Friday's win over Lewis & Clark, she posted a double double with game highs of 13 points and 12 rebounds.

 

Men’s Basketball- Student-Athlete of the Week
Jojo Anderson I Guard I Whitworth | JR | Spokane, Wash. | Mt. Spokane

Anderson scored 24 of his game-high 28 points in the second half in a 92-74 win at Whitman, helping the Pirates rally from an eight-point deficit early in the second half.  He had three three-pointers during a key second half stretch that saw the Pirates outscore the Blues 43-10.  On Saturday he scored 21 of his 23 points in the decisive first half of a 93-73 win over Lewis & Clark.  In two games, Jojo averaged 25.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists.  He was 22-34 from the field (65%) and 6-7 (86%) from beyond the arc.  Perhaps most important, in 66 minutes of play he only committed one turnover.
