Hillsboro, Ore. - The Whitman Blues and Whitworth Pirates claimed the title of 2024 Northwest Conference Men’s Basketball regular season co-champions on Saturday, February 17th. Both teams ended the season with a 13-3 conference record. Whitworth will claim the number 1 seed and hosting rights for the Northwest Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament, as a result of Northwest Conference tiebreaking procedures.
The Pirates and the Blues will be joined by Pacific University and the University of Puget Sound. The Pacific Boxers, Puget Sound Loggers, and Willamette Bearcats each achieved a 9-7 conference record. As a result of tiebreakers, the Boxers claim the #3 seed in the tournament while the Loggers take the #4 seed.
The tournament is set to take place on February 23-24th with all matches being played at the number 1 seed, Whitworth. Game 1 of semifinals will take place Friday, February 23rd at 6pm between the Whitman Blues and the Pacific Boxers. Game two will follow immediately after at 8pm between the number one seed, the Whitworth Pirates, and the number four seed, the Puget Sound Loggers.
The championship match will be contested at 6:00pm on Saturday, February 24th; the semifinal winners will compete for the tournament title and receive the Northwest Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
