Hillsboro, Ore. - The George Fox Bruins have been marked as the favorite to win the 2024 NWC Women’s Golf title, as voted on by NWC head coaches. This comes after being crowned the 2023 NCAA Division III National Champions and their tenth consecutive NWC title, having shared the title in 2018 and 2019 with Whitman College. The Bruins were the top finishers at the 2024 NWC Fall Classic.
Results of the Fall Classic are as follows: 1st- George Fox (591), 2nd- Whitworth (619), 3rd-Whitman (633), 4th- Pacific (661), 5th- Pacific Lutheran (665), 6th- Puget Sound (733), 7th- Linfield (736), Lewis & Clark and Willamette did not participate with full teams. At the Fall Classic, Liana Brown of George Fox finished first with a final score of 145, just ahead of her teammates Makensie Toole (146) and Alison Takamiya (147). The Fall Classic accounts for 25% of the final NWC golf standings.
George Fox tops the midseason poll with 64 points and 8 first place votes. Whitworth ranks second in the poll with 53 points and 1 first place finish. Whitman received 52 points for 3rd, followed by Pacific with 43 points. Pacific Lutheran ranked fifth with 38 points, ahead of Puget Sound with 28 points. Linfield (22), Willamette (16) and Lewis & Clark (8) round out the poll.
The Northwest Conference Spring Classic takes place on April 7-8th and the NWC Championship Tournament will begin on April 20th.
